Mid Face and Neck Lift - Dr. John Mesa - Look No Further!
Dr.Mesa performed a midface and neck lift on me on March 20, 2023. The results are simply amazing, as I look like me, just a younger version of myself. I look natural and refreshed. Dr. Mesa is master in his class, as he takes pride in his work and is a perfectionist, which are qualities you want in a surgeon who is working on your face!
I have been seeing Dr Mesa for a number of years now. I found him on Realself when searching for a surgeon to correct another surgeon's botched surgery; my face and identity were decimated by this other surgeon who repositioned prior fat transfer, I had a decade earlier, all along my lower face, which over the years resulted in my face becoming bottom heavy and puffy. To reduce this puffiness and excess fat in my loweface, Dr. Mesa performed buccal fat removal (see separate review) and face tite on 2 separate occasions and both helped significantly slim down my lower face.
After those procedures and knowing how competent Dr. Mesa was, I decided to go for the midface and neck lift as sort of the icing on the cake! The surgery was a complete success, and i am thrilled with the results. I'll be 60 in 6 months, although I can probably pass for someone in their 40's. In addition to his skill, another reason I chose Dr.Mesa is that he performs all of his surgeries under local, not general anesthesia; his technique is such that you don't feel any pain from the needles to numb the face. I was awake for the full procedure, chatting away and feeling NO PAIN at all!
Dr. Mesa is a Harvard trained surgeon that is humble and kind who listens to the patient and presents a plan to address what you are looking to fix / improve. I have never felt pressured to upgrade or have additional procedures, as he is conservative in his recommendations. In fact, I bugged him about the getting face /neck lift. I traveled out of state for the surgery, which he performs in his own surgical suite,. I stayed for approx 10 days in a hotel nearby. The surgery included a number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments, which helps with the healing process, and I did these during the week. The surgery was approx 5 hours, and the recovery was a bit rough the first few days, but that was expected. After 3-4 days, I was able to just take tylenol for any pain. I'd say I was presentable at 3 weeks, but I'm a very slow healer.
I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to Dr Mesa's Surgical Nurse / Coordinator, Cristina, who coordinates all and answers any questions you may have. Cristina always got back to me timely, and she is knowledgeable, reassuring and super sweet.
I am 2 months post-op today, and I am SO HAPPY with my results, as I look better and better everyday! Trust me, if you are considering facelift, necklift or both, Dr. Mesa is your man - go see him - you won't believe how good you look! Thank-you Dr. Mesa for helping me in this quest to get my face back. I am so happy I found you You are my plastic surgeon for life, as you know I'll be back for something :)
