Facelift Was Not to Industry Standards
Margaretj1949April 6, 2021
I saw Dr. Jorge L. Menendez, in the New Beauty magazine, which indicated he was an expert in his field. I scheduled a consultation for my facelift on 3/20/2019, and discussed procedure for a complete facelift. After surgery at the follow up, when he removed the bandage, I was not happy. I was surprised how I still looked the same except, for where he added fat to my cheek, and the results from the TCA peel made my skin look refreshed. Dr. Menendez, said by November the results of the facelift would be more apparent. About 3 months after the surgery, the results were no better, my skin was still sagging as if I didn't have a facelift. So I called his office, and explained my concern their response was for me to make an appointment. Every time I went to the office, I was only seen by nurses. On only one occasion did I see Dr. Menendez, and this visit was due to a open hole in my ear. I went back to the office 3 times because, I could not figure out why, I did not look any different. After doing some research about what a facelift is, I realized, Dr. Menendez did not perform facelift and I feel he deceived me. Whatever he did is not what is commonly done in facelifts by other doctors, nor did it give me the results we discussed prior to surgery. Of note, I drove over 8 hours to this doctor who was supposed to be an expert, I was supposed to be able to trust his work, but clearly he is not the professional touted in his advertisements. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

What kind of facelift did he claim to perform? With SMAS lifts you can feel numbness and tenderness where the muscle tissue is sutured together on your cheeks, even months after the procedure. Clearly you'd have to have stiches from your temples, down around past your ear and around the earlobe. I had a face lift in December and I still feel the knots of some internal stitches (which are dissolvable). I've had 4 follow-up visits with my surgeon which he insisted upon, in order to track my progress. He said he wants to see me in 6 months for one last check up. These visits were all part of the initial price. No surgeon should conduct such major surgery on someone and then just send them on their way.
Sounds like a lawsuit to me. He charged you for services he clearly didn't perform. The no stitches is an indisputable case in point in your favor right there.

Lol well then it's better he didn't operate on you! In all seriousness though, I would contact a lawyer and try to get my money back. I'm not a lawyer myself but I believe it's worth trying, you really do have enough concrete evidence.

Thanks, yes I did not feel any tightness to my face, because, He did not cut in front of my hairline, he only cut behind my ears, and pulled my neck , which made my neck look deformed

I rarely read cases on here where someone might actually have a medical malpractice case because the legal standard is so high but if he clearly did not perform a facelift then you likely would. The placement of incisions could vary but somewhere you should see how scar formation. I had a SMAS and my scars are on the inside of my ears and then wrap around into the back of head into the hairline. It’s all healing well but it’s still visible.

thanks , I did not have incisions were you described, he made a incision behind my ears, and pulled my neck, so it looked deformed, everytime I would ask why I do not look like I had a facelift, they would just lie to me, they treated me, like I was not important, Dr Mendenez, said wait for the full effects, wish never happened

thanks, I realized, that I did not have a facelift, after watching utube on facelift, there are no scars, but he did do something right behind my ear, which made my neck have these lumps, very time, I would ask, about something, they would just ingore me, I would go to his office, so depressed, and leave still depressed

Margaret, don't be despressed, you can't know all the ins and outs of a surgery. This slimeball used exactly that to trick you. You definitely should contact a lawyer. You can prove nothing was done because you have no visible stitches outside of your ears that need to be removed after a week. No matter what facelift you get, a mini or a mid or a full facelift, a high SMAS or depp plane facelift, there's always these sitches. Don't be depressed, go and get your money back because I promise you, you do have a case. Go for a consultation with a lawyer and explain the situation, they will tell you that you have enough evidence to prove that you were charged for services that were not rendered.

thanks, I did not have stiches, in front of my ears, like I saw on utube, preformed, he just called me, I said you did not give me a facelift, he said, yes, I did, you have stitches behind your ears, I said, but you did not
6, cut in front of my ears, he screamed, Yes I did. so I hung up the phone. He is not a professional, and he does not treat me, with respect, I do not know how he is still in business

Did you have stictches behind your ears? If so, after about 10 days, he needed to go and remove those. How can he claimed he cut in front of your ears when there is no incision? That's a bald-faced lie. If you get a lawyer he needs to provide the documentation on what kind of face lift he gave you. Before you're operated on, you have to read and fill out a form with a desciption of the procedure he's going to give you, along with you signing an agreement to go under anaesthesia. Often you get a copy of this documentation, tell the office they need to give you a copy of what you signed if you don't have it. Also the things he used and procedures he performed will be itemized on your bill. All of it is there, do you still have that? Would be interesting to see what he claimed to have done. Like I said, all of that is evidence for your case.
