Holy Cow has this been a roller coaster! I had a deep plane facelift, neck lift and lip lift on 6/2/20 by a double board certified facial plastic surgeon. I have been researching all 3 of these procedures for about 3-4 years and researched/consulted with 5-6 different surgeons. Made my decision based on experience, reviews and office staff, all of which were 5 star. The post op communication I have w/my surgeon is good as I am freaking out and constantly contacting (I am not going to release any names until I have fully decided on my results).
I am 7 weeks out and it seems like it's 2 steps forward 5 steps back. I had surgery on a Tuesday, had some unusual swelling in my neck and my PS met me in his office on that Saturday to see if it was anything serious...it wasn't, nothing came out when aspiration was tried. However,
I have not had the results I was hoping for/expecting, and most reviews I read here on RS show a positive outcome much sooner than 7 weeks, but I am trying very hard to be patient.
As you can see there is some pretty severe pulling on the right side of my face when I turn my head to the left and when I smile, this has been evident for about the last 3 weeks since the swelling has subsided. It got better (didn't pull when I turned my head, but still did when I smiled) after injections last week, but is back as of yesterday.
The tightness and swelling, bumpy pockets and lumps. on the right side of my face have been present pretty much since the beginning, after the swelling went down...
Still keeping my fingers crossed, but this is a lot more than I expected!! Will post more as I (hopefully) improve!!

Dr Nima Shemirani is a very nice man and honest and accountable doctor. He always took time to answer all of my questions, we talked about current events and our families. He never made me feel like I was being high maintenance or had unreasonable expectations. He said my results were not what he wanted or expected and I'm hoping he will do whatever he can to fix me when I can get back to the States. Certain members of his office staff did not make me feel this way and the coldness and curtness that was shown when I started having problems is only added to my anxiety and is why I gave the low star rating.

How did you look prior to the surgery? Perhaps is a bit tight now but just give some time. It might get better ,

Have you tried lymphatic drainage? It does help a lot with bumps and lumps, they should definitely go away with time.
For some reason some people swell more than expected ( my daughter looked like an avatar 1 week pos rhinoplasty which lasted almost 2 -3 months) and thanks god the swelling has gradually gone down she’s 8 months pos op.
My sister had lumps after facelift which went away with lymphatic drainage, which also worked for a chin lump on a friend who had liposuction.
Hopefully with time you’ll be happy with your results.
Regardless your concerns, you look much better after the procedure and your areas of concerns were not readily noticeable as I was looking for sagging jowls and neck lines.

Yes, I've had 5 LDMs and am massaging myself daily...

You look much younger. I think a corner lift on your lips might be nice. I had a deep-plane lift lip lift and neck lift in June also. He did a corner lift too. I have lumps in my neck that are of concern to me. My surgeon tells me to massage them and they will go away. I think we are are own worse critics and we have to give it time to heal. Overall I think you look great and young!

I only hope he will do a corner lip lift at no charge... I've already spent so much and clearly adding filler didn't get me the results I wanted!

More before and full face pix

wheretheredpengrows
I've added some more before pix, I'm 47 years old and although that is young for a face lift, I consulted with about 4 or 5 Med spas to see if non invasive procedures (ultherapy, thread lift, etc) would give me the results I wanted (no more mannequin lines, removal of turkey neck) and was repeatedly told no. I also had one injector flat out refuse to give me filer in my lips because of the anatomy of my lips and the fact that juvederm never seemed to last. So with all the money I could spend to get not the results I wanted, it was more cost effective to go under the knife.
Anyway, the swelling on the right side has gone down a little more but I still have those lines when I smile... I'm trying to be patient and I really appreciate all the positive comments!

You did the right thing about skipping the Med spa, some would have tried to sell you anyway. You're looking great, give your body time to heal. (Honestly, you make me want to fix my neck w/PS. But it terrifies me.)

First I want to tell you that you looked great before surgery. I need to start there.

More befores

wheretheredpengrows
I don't know if this is going to double post... Anyway, I turned 47 1 month before I had all of my procedures. Long story short was I would be spending more money on non invasive procedures to not get the results I was seeking, so decided to go under knife. Thank you for all of the positive feedback! It's helped!

Are you kidding?. You look great. In the before picture you look like a much older different person. You will look pulled the first few months or it won't be tight enough. The lines are natural and show muscles underneath. I cant believe you are unhappy. Trust me you will love this. Your mind is lying to you expecting to see your old face. I wish you the best. You look in your 20s. Try to be happy.

Well thank you for all of those positive comments, I appreciate and need it! I hope the lumps bumps and pulling go away before I have to go back to work... My PS says my results are not normal, so that doesn't help in my trying to stay positive...

I'd like to know what you had done 'exactly'?
December 7, 2020
what kind of 'under the knife' lift? What were the official names of your face lift and neck lift?
July 31, 2020
I also think the problem is that I look like a different person... Not just a younger version of myself...
