I am on day 4 of a face and eye lift. If there are errors in this, it's because I still can't see! I totally underestimated these procedures. Maybe it's me but I wanted to warn all of you..
I chose Dr. Wise based on his rep, ivy league education and that he worked on the housewives of nj. (Keeping it real) Dr. Wise's office is very professional, like a fine tuned machine. Not warm and fuzzy but that's fine.
I yelled at my husband for taking the week off. I am so glad that he did.
I am an older mom of an 8 yr old with multiple pets. I could never have handled this week alone.
My husband was unprepared for how horrible I looked when he picked me up. He said I looked like a monster who was out of my mind. Hee felt like crying.
I was completely out of it day 1. My pets were afraid of me.
Notwithstanding, there's a lot to be done, including multiple medications and ointments at different times, bandage dressings. I just don't see how someone who just had surgery can handle it.
Day 2 found me in moderate pain (like a headache) and I had blurry vision. I could barely get up to go to the bathroom, as I was disoriented.
Day 3, I got off Vicodin and was just uncomfortable. Not to mention, barely sleeping due to my incline and pain.
Then swelling sets in...toward the eve of day 3, my lower face blew up, cauliflower ears..it was scary..
In my mind, by now I'd be driving my child to school? No way...just showering and my new head wrap was difficult. Oh..and sterilize your stuff because g_d forbid you get an infection.
Day 4 finds me with blurry vision, swollen and covered with ice. I can't care for my child, cook, work...and I thought I'd be out and about for cinco De mayo?
I will try to add to this as I go...
Final advice...buy several cold eye masks..expect eye surgery to involve blurred vision as you have to use medicated ointment..have someone dependable for a week..

I had a deep plane facelift in Princeton NJ and I am from New Orleans. I stayed in a hotel and was alone. No head-wrap, drains, no pain. Didn't have to sleep sitting up either. I did have bruising and swelling. The swelling went down by the time I flew home on post op day 5. I wore makeup and no one looked at me twice. My bruising was covered by dermablend concealer. I didn't have my eyes done however. I did in the past though and didn't have any pain for that surgery either, just swelling which is normal. A deep plane lift is no mini-lift. It is an extensive facelift. I am 3 weeks post op today and have numbness still on the sides of my face but the swelling is down a lot and I am able to go about my life like before.
I have had a LOT of plastic surgery and have never heard of having to sterilize my stuff. I was giving antibiotics in surgery and after surgery. Never had an infection. This must have been your first surgery or your Dr. never gave you any information on what to expect after having a facelift. Having help for a week is very uncommon however.

Who did you have do your surgery? I had the same procedure and I had Dr. Mark Glasgold. Just curious as to who it was.

Dr. Wise of Wayne, nj. I am a little better now. I guess it's very individualized. It's day 5 and I could still scare children.

I am curious since most face lifts cost under $12,000 and eye lifts average $2000 for each eye. That totals $16,000 but yours was $23,000. Are the anesthesia and other details that expensive?

I saw another Dr. in NYC and the cost was about the same. Basically, 23K for eyes and facelift. No anesthesia, just a cocktail of pills. Maybe these are NJ and NY prices.

In Florida I payed $4000 for upper and lower eyes. I am planning brow lift and facelift, the price is $7000. In Dr Galitz office, local anesthesia and the option of the cocktail. My eyes were done last August, the next day I had to be in court for a hearing, I went with sunglasses. I was able to work on the computer the same day. No pain that needed painkillers.

Day 6 and improving
jerseyjulieMay 4, 2019
Yesterday and today, I saw improvement. Still feel sore and unsteady but I am up and about. Haven't left my house as my eyes are swollen and the stitches are obvious. By day 5, I could probably be without assistance and do some local driving, with dark glasses and a hat.
I will update at a later time. My main concern is looking human by May 13th, when I must get back to work.
All the best to you...

I loved your comment about the supplements you take for bruising and swelling—can you be more specific on what you order and dosage? I’ve been on homeopathic arnica and it doesn’t seem to do a thing!

I agree w/boricua592. A lot of ladies take bromelain and arnica to help after procedures. Pineapple juice is suppose to help as well. Good luck & keep us posted. ❤️

Thank you. I am supposed to go out this Saturday for my hubby's bday, with his family and I have to be at work Monday. I went to the Dr. and he said I was doing great. I just see small improvements everday but I can still only go out in dark glasses.
I am really getting worried about looking strange Saturday (not that his family are strangers to plastic surgery lol). Work I am most worried about as I''m sure my colleagues will delight in making fun of me and talking about my face.

I hope the swelling improves for you.... you still have a few more days and it's getting there so keep up whatever your doing and hopefully you will be good for work Monday. Good luck darlin.

I hope your recovery goes up from here! Your attitude and humor sounds like it's getting you through. Your husband sounds awesome, hang in there!
