WORTH IT
think there is a stigma to having plastic surgery, especially for men and when one is older. My neck looked like a turkey, my jowls were hanging, and my daughters were out of town for two weeks. On a whim, I asked what they could do.
I got face and neck reconstruction under local anesthetic; I drove myself there and home. I can’t express dramatic difference it has made in my appearance. I let my beard grow and largely avoided the daughter, son-in-law, and grand daughter who live with me for a few days. They still don’t know, (they think I’ve lost weight), but I couldn’t be happier with the results.
I am a former surgeon. The choice of whom to allow to cut my face was serious, and things can happen in surgery. I know.
So the first thing I checked over the phone: Dr. Potyondy is all US trained. Miami and LA. I asked a million technical questions; he was conversant with the smallest detail (e.g., symmetry, which was very important to me). He’s the perfect age, not too young or too old. Everything he told me came true, which means that he’s seen it all, but mostly, that he’s skilled.
Post-op support could not have been stronger. His staff is knowledgeable, supportive, and most importantly, extremely competent. I saw him at least five times in the weeks after the procedure for any little question. Nothing in medicine is guaranteed, but this is one of the best decisions I’ve made. Go for it.
