WORTH IT
When I was younger I knew when the time came I would have something done. Well let me tell you, the time has come! Lol. I am a jeweler and I was getting so tired of long time customers asking me if I was sick or if I was tired. The truth is when my face is at rest It just looks that way. I have been looking for around three years. Real Self has been such a help. All of the ladies that have shared their stories has been an unbelievable help. So I'm here to share my story in hopes of helping others. After much research decided that Dr. Parker A. Velargo at New Orleans Center for aesthetics and plastic surgery was the one. I am having a face/neck lift, upper blepharoplasty, and brow lift with hairline lowering. I was hoping to do this without being put to sleep. But because of a fast heart rate ,that I take medication for, it would not be wise. So general anesthesia it is. : (
Like many others here. I fought back and fourth with myself about spending so much money on myself. It's funny that we don't mind spending money on others but for some reason not on ourselves. Well I finally put that fight to rest and decided I was very much worth every penny spent. Husband has always supported my decisions but he dose worry and hopes that all goes well with no problems. We have been married for 39 years.
I am to have surgery on March 28th. So it's right around the corner. We will be leaving Monday and staying until Friday. I think I have all my ducks in a row. I will post before pictures. No makeup and worst light possible. I will try very hard to keep all updated.

Oh my goodness good luck!! I have mine done the 29th. So nervous but getting excited. I think you are going to look awesome!! Please update as much as possible and I will as well. Excited to see your results and after reading your summary I am regretting not have my hairline lowered as well. I have a 5 head and definitely could benefit from that!

Hi ChrisAnne, we will have to keep in touch with one another. Surgery dates only a day apart we will be healing together. It is always nice to talk to someone who is going through the same thing. I will try and update as much as possible. Wishing you much luck with your surgery. : )

You look beautiful! I hope you are still happy with your results. I’ve been researching for the last 3 years and I’ve finally scheduled surgery with Dr. Velargo on 5/29. I’m so excited, the plan is to do it under local and oral sedation. I’d live to see updated pictures. Thanks!

Hello all. Sorry it took so long to update.…

Hello all. Sorry it took so long to update. Had surgery on the 28th. Surgery was supposed to be 4 1/2 hours but it ended up running a little over six hours I think. I think the reason for this was from what Husband told me I bled more than the normal person. Dr. Velargo normally does not use drains but in my case he ended up putting a drain behind each ear. Woke up with the big head wrap that everyone ends up wearing after surgery. Next day went to see doctor. He cut head wrap off then drained the drains behind the ears and wrapped my head up again for another night. Probably done to keep the possibility of any hematomas from forming. Okay now for the pain. For anyone having this type of surgery there will be pain. I have had two neck fusions, given natural birth, and the neck fusions was a walk in the park compared to this surgery. But in saying that. I would still do it again. As of now. I am five days out and still dealing with a lot of swelling. Mainly tired. And low energy which is expected. If you have any questions I will try to answer as soon as possible. I will also be uploading some photos. I will be so happy to see the results. I am so so happy with the surgeon I choose. I can't say enough good things about this man!

Hi Grinch,
Your jaw looks amazing. Nice and firm and sharp. Your eyes are also coming along very nicely, you are going to have amazing results, it's happening already. Do you have less pain now? I hope you get past the pain hump soon. I'm glad things went well.

Hi GoldenShay, I have a lot less pain now. For some reason the RX did not work for me. But Dr. Reminded me about the other pain med he had given me called Percogesic and that did the trick. I can see already that I'm going to be happy with the results. I guess what I should have said was I can't wait to see the final results. It has not even been a week yet and sometimes we tend to want to hurry things along....lol. I think my swelling has fallen some. At first I was really swollen forehead, eye, and upper checks. Now those areas are soft to the touch and the jaw and neck are hard and swollen. But I know all will resolve in time. : )

Hi Grinch,
Your eyes are coming along so nicely, the result is going to be fantastic. You have such pretty eyes. I am excited to watch your journey, I think we have similar features of aging. Now that the swelling is going down, I suppose the jaw and neck will be the last to see the full result since it's the lowest point. I am glad you feel better and better

Just curious, do you feel like you look like yourself?
April 21, 2017
Yes, like I use to look when younger. I had gotten so use to not being able to see my eyelids (I had quite wearing eye makeup) that it seemed strange when I first saw them. So I started looking for older pictures. Found one of my youngest son who is 32 in the picture. My jaw dropped, he has my eyes. Then found one of me. And yes indeed they look just like my eyes use to look. So I know there can be a shock after seeing yourself for the first time in the mirror when you have had as much done as I have had. I had gotten use to seeing myself as the old woman in the mirror. But I can't explain how pleased I am she's gone.....lol

I think you were beautiful beforehand. What a shame that we women have to struggle so much. I do think beauty has no age, but society disagrees
April 22, 2017
Hi GoldenShay,
Thanks for the compliment. The thing is that we are living a lot longer than people use too. Just a little over a hundred years ago life expectancy was only 46 - 48 years. Not only are we living longer but we are still feeling young in our 50s, 60s, 70s, etc.... If taking a little extra skin off helps match how you feel on the inside outwards. Then by all means do it. Never have anything done if it's to please someone else. It has to be done for the right reason are you will never be happy with that decision.

Two weeks out.

Feeling a lot better. Still swollen but getting better. The thing to remember is that when it is you going through the healing process a week can seem like a long time. You have to have patience.
