Upper & lower blepharoplasty with Dr. Kwon - trust the process

ORIGINAL POST

Upper & Lower Blepharoplasty with Dr. Kwon

WORTH IT
I had upper and lower eyelid surgery with Dr. Kwon several months ago and my eyes are now healed and beautiful enough to write up this review. I first came to Dr. Kwon looking to have only my lower blepharoplasty due to bags under my eyes. I knew 100% I wanted them removed. They always made me looked tired and so it was time for them to go! I had an in person consultation with Dr. Kwon at his Beverly Hills location. Echoing everyone else’s first impression of Dr. Kwon, I couldn't agree more that he's a very genuine and friendly doctor. So my consultation went well. We talked about doing a lower blep which would get rid of my lower bags. Days after my consultation I had contacted Lilit and had asked her to add on an upper blepharoplasty to my treatment plan as well. It was a last minute decision but I felt as if it was needed since I started having excessive skin there. I had natural double lids to begin with but was looking to fix the aging loose skin. I was already going in for the lower blep so why not, right? I flew in the night before my surgery. I'm from up north by the way though won’t mind having to travel to be in the hands of a good surgeon.

My surgery went very well. For upper & lower blep, I didn't need to be put under general anesthesia so I was somewhat just sedated. I was up off the table and walked fine as soon as the surgery was over. Looking at myself in the mirror right after was probably the most scary part. If a scarecrow were to have a baby with the Bride of Chucky, that was exactly what I looked like! Haha! Pain level during recover was a breeze. No pain; just discomfort because of the tightness and ointment being slathered all over my upper and lower eye areas.

To be honest, during the first two months post-surgery I had lost faith in my decision for undergoing the upper blepharoplasty. I swelled more than expected and had thought that my decision was a wrong move; making me looked worse than the change I was hoping for. I had so many conflicted feelings from the very first day post-op up until my 2nd month post-op. I was more on the impatient side of things and was expecting to love my eyes right off the surgery table but boy was I wrong. My obsession to heal fast drove my emotional stress level up and got the best of me. I wished I hadn't reacted to my healing phase that way. Everyone heals at a different pace. I just happened to be one who healed slower than most blepharoplasty patients.

Fast forward 5 months later and as you can see in the photos how my eyes have turned out. I am now in love with them and the compliments are endless from friends and family! Both upper and lower blep made such a difference combined. I look better rested and younger! Initially I thought my crease was cut too high and too deep so I was unhappy with my result just months ago. Now I'm glad Dr. Kwon made that decision for me. :) Remember to not blame your doctor and that patience is key when it comes to plastic surgery. I was consistently questioning my doctor's work at the beginning but now I can say that Dr. Kwon did an amazing job on my eyes! Have trust in the doctor you selected, trust the process and allow things to heal on its own time. Good luck to anyone out there considering these procedures!

Response from Dr. Kwon:
I’m so elated to hear that you’re loving how your results turned out. You look amazing! I know that it was difficult to see what the outcome would be at first, but thank you for trusting in me and in the healing process. Time really does play an important role.

How much did it cost?
Are these the before and after pictures?
These are all after photos.
very nice
hmm.... I cannot distinguish between before and after images. And where are those the under eye bags? You skin looks very young too. Do you have the "before" picture with under bags and "after" picture with incisions? thanks
These are all post-op photos. You can DM me.
Beautiful results. Can you share how many mm was the crease measured at? And if you decided on a bit of "flare" for the out covers?
*outer corner of eye
According to Dr. Kwon, my crease fold was set at 8 mm. He also mentioned, "The average fold height tends to be 7 mm, but I was anticipating a little relaxing of the upper lid skin for you." I believe the outer flare is decided based on one's eye shape. My eyes are more on the almond side.
I am so glad I found your post. I am devastated at my choice to do upper lif surgery. I am 5 weeks post op and I look terrible. I still do have swelling and your post gave me hope that in time my eyes will normalize. Right now I feel way over done. My dr did not look at prior photos of me and now admits he did not understand my goal (I have naturally hooded lids, but at 45 they had gotten too loose and droopy. I just wanted to look like me but like I did before I got quite so saggy. It feels terrible to know my dr didn't understand my goals and that I was definitely over done for what I sought, but perhaps it isn't as awful as it right now seems to be.
As with any facial surgery, the post-op time within the first few months can be pretty horrid. I was exactly where you're at right now, full of regrets, up until my 3rd month when everything finally actually looked somewhat normal again. Post-surgery depression and stress are real and can make you question your decision whenever you look at yourself in the mirror. You can look at things in a more positive light. For example, my crease cut might be a little more than I have anticipated; however, I won't have to worry about blepharoplasty for the decades to come. Yes, our eyelids will get saggy and droopy as we age. Just give your eyes some time, and don't stress yourself out. Tell yourself it's just the ugly stage of post-surgery at the moment and that your beautiful result should arrive after! ;)
