Uneven Eyelids and Hollowing from Asian Blepharoplasty

Uneven Eyelids and Hollowing from Asian Blepharoplasty

I underwent an asian blepharoplasty with Dr. Kossler due to overhanging eyelids obscuring my vision and more exposure of my double eyelid. Although the functional outcomes were met, unfortunately the aesthetic outcomes were not and I underwent a revision from a different surgeon who had more experience with Asian eyelid design and anatomy. Functionally, I am able to see more without raising my eyebrows and forehead. Aesthetically, my left eyelid inner corner has an extra fold and uneven eyelid line while I was expecting balanced, symmetrical eyelids with this level of care.

Dr. Kossler was conservative and informed me she would not remove any fat, only reposition it. I appreciated this since I did not want to look too different. I suspect the extra fold is due to uneven markings done quickly on my eyes, one eye with straighter lines and the other eye more arched. In bringing up my concern with this extra fold to Dr. Kossler, she recommended an injection directly into the fold to reduce scarring, which may have made it more hollow, and fillers but I was uncomfortable with fillers so close to my eye.

Despite this unfortunate mishap, Dr. Kossler is professional, straightforward and personable and Dr. Kossler's team at Stanford Healthcare were fantastic with responsiveness and support but I would not recommend this clinic for permanent aesthetic surgeries.

I was excited to come out with balanced, even eyelids like I had before but that was not the case and it ate away at my self-confidence every time I looked in the mirror.
