Great doctor - I think I was just one of the unlucky ones

Horrifying update
I called to confirm my appointment for my review and they stated to me over the phone that would not see me for my concerns or revision unless I removed this review. I wrote them a email telling them that I would not remove the review. Their response was to cancel my appointment along with an email saying stating that I requested to cancel. I clarified by responding to their email saying that I did not request to cancel my appointment. They responded with an official cancellation email saying that they were sorry I was not able to make the time they had available. Again, I clarified that I was available.

I would suggest filing a complaint with your state medical board for starters and then contact your local news. This is unacceptable and truly vile. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
I agree with you - there needs to be accountability with surgeons- as with any other profession.
Is picture 11 in the morning when you say you are swollen? And picture 9 the afternoon? Or is picture 9 at 5 months and picture 11 at 6 months(eyebrow skin looks really swollen in picture 11, but not in picture 9)
ORIGINAL POST
Great Doctor, I Got Unlucky
Hello! I am just about 5 months and 1 week post op. I had done an upper and lower bleph with festoon treatment and a facelift/necklift.
I am going to share my exact experience. Nothing I say is against the doctor or his facility or staff however I just want to share my experience.
-Consult
I had a consult with dr. Kass only about my double chin. We spoke about a weekend lift as my solution. He was very pleasant and gave me the impression that was very experienced and very confident in his ability. I later called to schedule and I added the upper eye bleph, lower eye bleph and festoon treatment without truly having a consult about the add-ons. Office was clean, tidy and well lit. Staff/nurses were pleasant and appointment was on time.
-Pre-op
About 1 week before surgery I went to the office for my pre-op visit. Reguarding the double chin, at this visit I found out that he was going to do a full facelift/necklift, not a weekend lift. This was surprising however, I understood this was what he believed to give the best results. I had about 1 week to mentally prepare for this pivot. Regarding my festoons, he wanted to make sure I understood they were a separate issue from just a lower eye bleph so I pointed them out, he agreed and we continued. Regarding my excessive upper eye skin, I told him that one eye had more skin than the other.
Moving on, I asked him a few questions about his actual process of procedures and he was very vague and seemed to dodge the question(s) about both the festoon treatment and the neck lift that I had asked. At one point I asked a question and he told me to wait till he had said everything first. I shut down, and waited. I got the sense he had answered the same questions for many years and was a bit annoyed with me however, this may be a wrong intuition. I was however very excited for my face and eyes and neck to change. Pre-op appointment was on time. Staff members were lovely.
-Surgery
Surgery was on time. I quickly got ready and was given my twilight medication. I started to become aware while at some point during. I was restless and started to ask the doctor if we were almost done. I remember conversations above my head. I was not in pain, just uncomfortable. I heard the doctor ask for more medicine and I fell back into a twilight. I was picked by my husband. Much of the next few days were a blur. Online site it states that the festoon treatment is unique because it is paired with a laser resurfacing procedure. I never received this procedure and it was never discussed however I did pay for “festoon treatment”.
-At-home
I had strange questions about what was going on and I reached out to staff for answers. Most of the time I got a response from the nurses or support staff. I think only one time they told me that the office was closed and to wait till Monday. But my memory is hazy.
-Follow-up appointment
I had the stitches removed by the doctor. This very much hurt and I shouted an inappropriate word. The doctor , in my opinion, did not show much tolerance for my worry. However, I may feel this way because I was a little frantic from the pain. He said a few stitches needed to stay in and I had to come back to remove more. I had a few concerns or questions that I read about in my Facebook group that I asked/stated, he told me to stay off the internet. This group was my only support at the time. Appointment was on time
-Second follow up.
A staff member removed the rest of the stitches. Perfect removal. Appointment was on time.
-3 month follow up.
I went into this meeting mostly being concerned about my right upper eyelid. I have posted pictures. My right eye, that I told him had more skin than the other is very much drooping with excess skin (or fat?). My other eye had enough skin taken (I’m also not quite sure about how I feel about it because the two eyes are just so plainly different). He looked back in his notes and mentioned that he remembers me stating it has more skin than the other. In this meeting he agreed a revision would be mostly likely needed but we would still need to wait. He said that it is his goal to make sure I am happy with my results. Regarding my facelift, I have a pixie ear, and it was also discussed that this would be fixed. I then asked how it was performed and he responded “very carefully” and changed the subject. I would really like to know how invasive or non-invasive this procedure is at this point. I felt very uncomfortable in this meeting. Appointment was on time. We made another appointment to further discuss revisions at 8 months post-op. Shortly after this appointment I paid $1500 for a jet plasma, amniotic fluid treatment called Lilian to promote healing in the area of my eye lid and scars. My scars are very thick and red.
-Calling office, 1st week
I have emailed and called the office to ask if it is possible to have the revision done sooner as I have a major event happening in my life. I believe, and I could be wrong, that most of the swelling has gone down. In fact, I swell every single morning so if that is the case, then I would never in the life be ready for a revision. I know my body and I know that it is mostly to fully healed and could withstand a revision prior to 8 or 9 months however, I am not a doctor. I was told I need to wait. I emailed them back and respectfully asked them to reconsider moving it closer. I did not get a response to that email.
-Overall
I think I was just one of the unlucky ones. This right upper eyelid makes me feel extremely self conscious and ugly. Especially in photos. The doctor has been doing this a long time, he obviously knows what he is doing. My only guess to why he doesn’t share how he does his procedures is that maybe there is more advance techniques out there today???? I see good reviews and some even on my Facebook group with happy outcomes. I am nervous to get the revision. I am extremely unhappy that I need to have the revision during a significant life event instead of before. However, I will be patient and have faith. I would recommend the office and doctor.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling self-conscious about the outcome of your procedure. I hope things will turn out better with the revision.
Get another opinion from another doctor or two. If your not happy or comfortable or he's not answering any of your questions then something is wrong, regardless of new techniques or not .. I would get another opinion overall best of luck to you!
I agree for you I get a second opinion. Having input from another doctor can help answer your questions and give you peace of mind. You are beautiful! It's difficult as we tend to be hard on ourselves.
I am commenting on this because I too have had an upper and lower Bleph that did not come out as anticipated. My procedure was not performed by Dr. Kass. Although you may not be feeling happy with your outcome I did want to tell you that you look lovely. Your eyes look bright and pretty. I am
Far less fortunate. They too too much skin and my eyes look hollow and skeletal. I cannot find anyone to fix them. You look beautiful.

Can you share what Facebook group you’re referencing?
I have since left the group. However I noticed when I type facelift or eye lift into the search bar on Facebook group options, quite a few private ones pop up. It was a GREAT source of information and unbiased support and experiences.

You can take down the review to satisfy his narcissism, but would you feel comfortable with him working on your eye again?
Definitely consider a 2nd or 3rd opinion.
I am 3 weeks post op from upper blepharoplasty and trying to be patient with the healing stages.
You look very refreshed and beautiful. Stay positive and know you will get the outcome/correction you are seeking one way or another.
