The removal of the fat medial pads made an amazing difference

ORIGINAL POST

Excellent Surgeon

WORTH IT
I had Upper Blepharoplasty about 7 years ago with a reputable surgeon however sadly after a few years it left me with a wide pale high sitting scar and dry eyes. I did go back to the original surgeon who really didn’t give me many options other than suggest I leave it for a further 2 years and come back and see him again. I was not going to do that as the widened scar was becoming harder to hide as the skin was much paler, also I had developed fat medial pads which were really bothering me. Before and during my research Dr Daniel Ezra had always been of interest to me because of his reputation and especially as he specializes in revision eye surgery. I never thought I would have to repeat this surgery again and because of the situation I was in, I was going to make sure as I was going to have a revision with the best surgeon.

I made the appointment to see Mr Ezra, the experience was completely different to my first one. His first line team are amazing (his two secretaries Karen and Mandy) and I had an eye test with his nurse before I saw Mr Ezra. Mr Ezra is very kind and understanding and he made me feel very comfortable at all times, more importantly he made me understand that as it is a revision and the original scar was high that he would have to be conservative with the new incision to decrease the widened scar. He recommended doing it in two phases, the options being a partial decrease of the widened scar to see how that goes along with the removal of the fat medial pads, or I could just have the fat medial pads removed which would be easy to do and would improve the overall look. Mr Ezra did not want to revise the entire length of the widened scar as he wanted to see how that the first phase went, and if the result was good he would decrease the remaining widened scar in a second surgery . He encouraged me to go home and think about everything we had discussed.

I received a letter from Mr Ezra running through everything that was discussed at our appointment. I decided to go ahead with the surgery and had it all booked however, Coronovirus meant the surgery was cancelled. This gave me even more time to think about it and I was even more determined to go ahead with the revision surgery. Another surgery date was booked in and Mr Ezra ran though everything with me again. Before surgery I was sent a Covid test (I was negative), I had an email from Mr Ezra’s anthestist, Manish Raval to introduce himself and a few days before the surgery Mr Raval called me to run through what to expect that day. On the day of the surgery I was temperature checked, I met again with the aneathestist Manish Raval and, Mr Ezra came in to talk to me, ran through everything and marked up my eyelids. I also met with Nurse Jacquie who deals with all the aftercare. Surgery went smoothly and I had no pain at all, again it was a very different experience from my first surgery elsewhere.

Mr Ezra has a great team around him and you really feel that. A week later Nurse Jacquie (who you can contact at any time) removed my sutures and then I saw Mr Ezra who checked everything, asked how I felt about the outcome, he also checked my dry eyes which had improved greatly since surgery. My eyelids felt and looked better and the pale scar had been reduced. The removal of the fat medial pads made an amazing difference too. I was booked in for the second surgery with Mr Ezra but he wanted to see me in 6 months time just to make sure that is the right thing to do. 6 months later we agreed the partial revision surgery went so well, the second part of the revision was not needed. I would recommend Mr Ezra to anyone, and have done already to a few friends.

However, I ended up having the second part of the revision surgery over a year later because I went and had 2 sessions of surgical scar camouflage using medical tattooing to cover the remainder of the pale scar. My eyelids puffed up really badly the second session, the eyelids went completely swollen and it completely disturbed the new and old eyelid scar. The eyelid skin became wrinkly and heavy looking again and it stayed that way. I absolutely regret having that done because my eyelid was so fresh looking and the skin was nice and flat due to Mr Ezra’s amazing partial revision. I saw Mr Ezra again and he agreed to do the second part of the revision but to leave the first part alone. He made sure I knew that he had to be extremely conservative and that it would not look as good as the previous surgery which I knew, and I love that he is so honest. As I said I deeply regret doing the surgical scar camouflage medical tattooing.

I really cannot recommend Mr Ezra and his team enough. He is a very kind, thoughtful individual and an amazing surgeon. He is very honest which is very important especially when it comes to a revision surgery.
