A Regretful Experience

If I could make the decision again, I would not choose Dr. Prasad for my eyelid surgery. In hindsight, I wish I had sought care from a specialist whose practice focuses solely on the eyes. I urge prospective patients to ask thorough questions and research your options before proceeding.

I underwent a lower blepharoplasty having been advised during consultation that his technique would "sculpt” my under-eye fat pockets for a smoother appearance. Based on that description, I understood his approach to involve contouring and repositioning the fat along with excisions to improve the junction between the lower eyelid and cheek.

Moments before the surgery, however, I was told that the procedure would involve fat excision alone without the sculpting technique I understood to have been initially discussed. By then, I felt I had traveled too far to back out of the procedure. Unfortunately in the weeks following surgery, there was noticable asymmetry where herniated fat remained under my left eyelid. During my one-month postoperative visit, Dr. Prasad recommended revision surgery involving further fat excision. I initially declined because I no longer felt comfortable getting further work done under his care.

I had concerns about the informed consent process, the surgical outcome, and postoperative communication, all of which were shared with Dr. Prasad. His practice then offered a settlement agreement that would have required me to release all claims and agree to confidentiality and non-disparagement provisions. I declined because I did not believe the proposed consideration adequately reflected the breadth of the rights I would have to waive.

Before deciding to share my experience publicly, I communicated my concerns directly with the practice over several months, sought an internal resolution, and even reached back out to inquire whether revision surgery remained an option. This month, I received a final letter from the practice’s attorney stating that the physician-patient relationship has been terminated.

Looking back, my greatest regret is choosing this surgeon. More than the cosmetic result itself, I am disappointed by a failure to restore trust after a patient raised concerns. By the end of my experience, I no longer felt confident that my needs were being meaningfully addressed.

Cosmetic surgery is by nature a personal decision, and every patient must make their own informed choice. My hope in sharing this review is that prospective patients will ask detailed questions about the planned surgical technique, seek multiple consultations, and ensure they fully understand every aspect of the proposed procedure before consenting.
