Korea is the Best

WORTH IT
In March 2026 two friends , also in their plastic surgery journey, met up in Seoul, south korea. The trip was about 6 months in the planning. I had a previous facelift and revision in Manila, Philippines. Neither lasted more than about 6 months. The revision was done endoscopically and far superior to the original lift. But still didn't last. So disappointing. Also left me with nerve damage to the right eyebrow ( motor nerve to frontalis). With the first surgery the damage was immediate. The right eyebrow dropped and i looked like cyclops. It took 4 months for movement to come back. In the meantime botox was used to drop the left eyebrow ( which had gone sky high) to even them out. After the revision it all looked fine but after 4 months the right eyebrow dropped again and did not resolve.
I decided to go to malaysia for an eyebrow lift. Snd also a pixie ear fix. Both facelifts left me with pixie ear. Anyway thats where i met my two friends.
One had her facelift there botched and the other one was happy with her lift but wanted some more procedures
I really wanted fox eye surgery or temple lift. The eyebrow surgeon declined. Fox eye is basically canthoplasty, which he does, but he kept saying it would not give me the look i was after. I was not going to push it. The surgeon that my friend with botched facelift was willing , he was looking at a one stitch temple lift invented in the UK by Kat and Co. however we were unable to schedule a time before i had to leave Malaysia. After what happened to my friend's face, that was a blessing.
Knowing how badly i wanted Fox Eyes, my friends did some research and came up with Returning Plastic Surgery in Seoul, Korea. Eyes and face are their specialty. Dr Kim Woo. One of the girls had her facelift revised and the other booked in for a couple of other things.
Accomodation costs are very very high in Seoul. Ok for a day or two. But not for 2:3 weeks. We found a fabulous air bnb with three bedrooms.split the cost. It was a great location and a real home away from home.
We had a day or two to ourselves then off to Gangham to meet dr Kim at Returning Plastic Surgery. Up until then we had Whatsapp contact with our english speaking concierge, Anson and had paid our deposits. We met dr Kim , who speaks perfect English as well as Korean. He agreed to Fox Eyes. I also enquired about a mid facelift to improve lower eyes. Eyes were kinda rounded, small and a bit sunken. He suggested lower blepharoplasty but I didn't want that due to a lot of potential issues with the procedure and whst had happened to my friends eyes in Malaysia. She had Ectropion where the lower liids droop down off the eye, lots of watery eye issues. He said he understood and offered an alternative procedure called a butterfly lift. My understanding is that it pushes the cheek up towards the bottom of the eye , filling the hollowness. He was not impressed with my current facelift. My face had noticeable asymmetry and the neck was not great. The under chin incision was too far back to allow for correction. All in all i decided to do the lot. There was definitely no pressure to do that. He even fixed my pixie ears properly. The fix in Malaysia improved them but could have been better.
We got sent for blood and presurgery tests. We all opted for twilight anaesthesia.
Obviously more surgery affected the time schedule. So the other two ladies went first. First up was the one with least amount of surgery.we both picked her up after surgery in an uber. Second was the one with the most amount of surgery. Two of us picked her up. Then i was third. We each had a whole day just for us , so three days in a row. Im not sure if one or both of them picked me up.
The anaesthesia was really gentle. Needles freak me out, especially cannulas. The young lady was super gentle. She put the butterfly needle into the underside of my forearm with the arm hanging down. I barely felt it and was so relieved. Those things are brutal when they go into the back of your hand! I didn't even feel myself going under. Woke up in the recovery suite under a pile of soft warm blankets. It was so comfy and i didn't want to leave!
Getting changed into my own clothes was too hard so i wore my two piece surgical garment home, and returned it later. They even let me take a blanket home to snuggle under in the uber. March is pretty chilly in Seoul.
We all had drains in for three days and a massive pressure bandage. On the first follow up the bandages were replaced with face bra compression bandage.
We all red light therapy on our faces each visit.
Dr Kim saw us all each aftercare visit. Medication and creams were an extra cost. There was a pharmacy downstairs in the same building as the clinic.
Recovery is fairly rough for the first couple of days. The pain medication is inadequate. Eye drops were good. I had a bit of chemosis for a couple of weeks. Bruise cream was good. Took a few days for eyes to start opening. The air bnb had big white floor tikes with black grout. The contrast helped me to see where i was going!
Stitches stayed in for 7 and 10 days from memory. Some cane out after 7 days and the rest after 10 days.
While there we donned warm clothes and beanies and looked around the place. Food was fantastic. We mainly ate out. Did a bit of cooking.
So sad to leave. I miss the girls and our air bnb. Seoul is just amazing. Accomodation and food is pricey. Transport , including Uber, is very affordable.
All in all i had revision face and neck lift, butterfly lift, forehead lift, pixie ear fix, and fox eyes.
The face of my dreams.
So glad i did everything.
My changed are drastic which is what i wanted. I didn't want subtle. But not crazy. My eyes are more open, not sunken, elongated rather than slanted. Loving the forehead lift. Nice and smooth. Much more feminine shape. I would have liked more of a round Barbie forehead but its a real danger area for filler. My ear lobes are so cute again snd earrings look good. They look terrible with pixie ears.
My eyes look amazing. My face is so symmetrical. Beyond all my expectations.
I think dr Kim is the best. After the previous facelifts i was worried about nerve damage and didn't want to do any procedures where that was a big risk. Dr Kim was very reassuring in that area. With faces being his specialty i knew he knew his anatomy! Korea in general is the place to go for good plastic surgery.
The aftercare is wonderful, especially for foreign patients. Having a concierge was great. We could message him anytime with concerns .
I can highly recommend this clinic and would not go anywhere else.
The cost included surgery, anaesthetic, aftercare, face bra, airport pick up and drop off.
Extra was medication/ cream and pre surgery tests.
The clinic is modern and clean.
The anaesthesia was great.
Communication was great.
Results are above and beyond.
The only thing lacking was decent pain relief. I think tramadol is as strong as they can go. Western women are too tolerant of aspirin, panadol or ibuprofen. Some sort of sedative, pain killer for the first three days would have been good. But otherwise you are well cared for and the surgery is world class.
