Great Experience with Lower Blepharoplasty
The Best of the Best for Bleph
Here are some things to note:
For the procedure - I was awake, I took a Xanax Dr. Amadi prescribed an hour before. I was worried it would be freaky, but it was totally fine. Nothing was painful and it went by really quickly.
For the recovery - in my experience, my recovery was very easy. I did have some bruising that took maybe two weeks to dissipate completely, but did not experience pain and spent a couple of days in bed with the compression goggles on. I did not have any problem sleeping or any other complications. I took a few days off work and then started working again remotely, doing Zoom meetings with my camera off. I would not have wanted to go into the office for about a week and a half (so about 3 or 4 days after getting the stitches out). But if you absolutely had to go into an office or other environment where you see people a lot, if you wear glasses it's very unlikely anybody would notice anything. I was more aware of it in my head than any other people were.
My least favorite part of the whole thing was getting the stitches out. There was some sharp pinching, but it's over pretty quickly.
Dr. Amadi is an oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in the eyes. If you're looking to get this procedure done, I would highly recommend seeing him versus a surgeon who generalizes in all types of surgery. I wasn't aware of the importance of this before I started my research. You'll also be in great hands with his staff - they work hard and treat all patients with care and respect. They understand it's a big deal for patients and are there to answer questions via text, email, etc. throughout the whole experience.
Great Experience with Lower Blepharoplasty
I had a lower bleph with fat repositioning in July of 2021 and had a great experience. My goal was to fix the hollowness under my eyes. I wanted Dr. Amadi as my doctor because he specializes in eye procedures specifically. Before I did much research, I was considering seeing someone who was super popular for all types of procedures, but not specifically for eyes. I got the invaluable advice from someone to seek treatment from a doctor who specializes in blephs vs generalizes in all cosmetic surgeries, and I would encourage everyone to do the same.
I was super freaked out about the procedure (to no fault of any of the staff, I just had never done anything like this before and liked the way I looked even with my eye bag hollowness - I was afraid something would go awry and I’d have regrets), but they were available to answer any and all questions I had, and it went much more smoothly than I had anticipated. I took one week off work, and that was the full extent of my recovery. I passed as ‘normal’ after one week, and I had barely any bruising or swelling, just some mild-moderate discomfort and itching, but nothing unbearable and never any pain. I religiously took the prescription arnica…not sure if that contributed to my easy healing?
Keep in mind you do need to keep your eyes closed for most of the day for the first 4 days or so of your recovery - so plan on napping and having a LOT of good podcasts / audiobooks queued up.
I would not say my results are a complete solution to my hollowness, I still may need some filler in the future. But I am happy with my decision and results, and very glad that nobody had noticed that I had any work done. The results are modest and natural, but I can tell the difference and see a large improvement in the volume and color of my under-eyes.
I plan to see Dr. Amadi again for the upper. :)
