The Fairy God Mother of Palo Alto
WORTH IT
I'm 47 y/o, in great shape - you know, I look "good for my age." Unfortunately, the last 2 years, there wasn't a time I looked in the mirror or took a picture that I didn't see a "sub-par," beauty looking back at me. Where had my beauty gone? I tried everything; eyebrow tinting, hair dying, more facials - and nothing worked. It took two years for me to realize what was wrong. My "once upon a time" big beautiful eyes were looking sad and tired!
It was a journey to confirm the suspicion that the culprit of my stolen beauty may be my "saggy" eyelids. It was "just" a little sag touching my eyelashes, how can that possibly be it?
To make absolutely sure, I got some eyelid tapes to see if the "sag" of the upper eye was in fact what was wrong...and eureka! That was it. I needed eyelid surgery.
Looking for the right surgeon:
I did two consults with two different male surgeons, and although they were all good and professional - neither of them offered the comprehensive plan that Dr. Hessler did. Both of them focused on the upper eyelid alone, while Dr. Hessler looked at my entire face, and addressed the hollowness and wrinkles under my eyes. For facial rejuvenation for my age-range/physique, she suggested upper/lower with fat transfer for contouring the lower area.
The experience:
Dr. Hessler made me feel like I was "her only" patient. Her sunny disposition and empathetic personality made me connect with her immediately. She understood how I felt! Looking at her body of work was really impressive. The work she has done with facelifts, neck lifts, noses, is perfect and natural. She has a gift - a very talented surgeon.
Preparation for the surgery:
To say that I was "scared" to go "under the knife" is an understatement - I went to two therapy sessions to mentally prepare myself with my choice, did a ton of research, read up on Dr. Hessler (only to find one great review after another, and her background and awards are impressive, check it out on her website).
The procedure:
Everything played out exactly as Dr. Hessler said it would. I was back on Zoom about two weeks after the procedure, but the swelling takes time to completely heal. However, people will not be able to tell you had anything done 10 days after.
The recovery phase:
You will have your ups and downs, you'll want to see your final results immediately! Have patience, your eyes will heal at different speeds (my right was quick, my left took a little longer) Trust Dr. Hessler, and trust the process!
Her Staff and the facilities:
Shout out to Devon! The RN that walked me through the whole process was knowledgeable, kind, and always available. A stellar lady. The facilities/OR was state of the art.
My results:
Wow! Wow! Wow! I feel beautiful again! This procedure has been a life-changer for me. My self-esteem is renewed, I have more energy, I feel like my youthful spirit matches my youthful face!! It's incredible how something so small (like eyelid surgery/fat transfer), can make such an impactful difference. No one can tell I have had anything "done" - My eyes just look like they did 10 years ago. Bright, open, and sultry :-)!
