Asian eyes

I am half Asian and have some features of Asian eyes, including a bigger under eye muscle.
I was impressed Dr. Kapadia knew that in some Asian cultures it is considered cute and some people even do implants to make it look this way. He said right away this muscle will stay as is, while a couple other surgeons wanted to “address” it. I was happy he was not going to change my natural eye shape. Dr. Kapadia said that thinibg this muscle would cause problems in the future, because that muscle is responsible for closing eyes.
Thank you Dr. Kapadia!

Dr. Kapadia Knows Eyes!

I want to start by saying that nobody asked to write a review . Dr. Kapadia and his staff never ever mentioned anything about any feedback online.
I am writing it to help others to find the right doctor, which is a very confusing and difficult task in the world of plastic surgery.
I have traveled from another state far away to have Dr. Kapadia do my eyelid surgery. I am not sure when I got eye bags but about two years ago someone made a comment about puffy eyes and ever since it was all I could see. I am 36 years old.
Before finding Dr, Kapadia I had 4 consultations with different plastic surgeons and every one of them offered a different approach, and that is when I realized how confusing it all was going to be to find the right surgeon.
First surgeon, who was good but he does all kinds of plastic surgery , he said I got three problems, hollow tear though, jelly roll and eye bags. He suggested to cut under eyelashes, thin out my lower lid muscle and reposition the fat. I ran away from that appointment. Did not not want to cut under eyes and change so much!
Second sergeon suggested to go from inside of the lid, do fat transfer, and inject Botox to my lower lid.
He said he would do surgery from his office, and I did not feel right about it, on top of other red flags.
I was pressured to sign to get discount, so no go.
Third surgeon was a phone consultation. He suggested to only remove bags from inside of the lid, and do fat transfer. He said not to touch the muscle under eye and avoid scars. I pinned him as a possibility.
The forth surgeon was a plastic facial reconstructive surgeon, double board Certified. I liked him very much. He said remove eye bags, don’t mess with lower lid muscle , no fat transfer or fat reposition, it is hard to predict what fat will do in the future, plus if you gain weight , so will the transferred fat cells. We can always do fillers later if we need to adress the tear though. I scheduled a surgery and paid to reserve a spot.
I kept feeling scared about surgery and started to freak out as it was getting closer. 2 weeks before the surgery I had my pre-op consultation with the surgeon number 4. I mentioned that I was scared to go blind. I asked him to show me more eye lid surgery before and after. I only saw a few. I started to understand that his specialty is rhinoplasty, he had many photos of nose jobs and face lifts, all beautiful but not much eye lids. He then said in a very nice way, to look for an oculaplastic surgeon and get their opinion. He even gave a recommendation but it looked like who he recommended worked with older people and helped them correct upper lids and mostly medical problems. I did not see anyone my age , so I did not go to see him.
Then I came across Dr. Kapadia’s website. I was impressed with his education and experience. I read all the reviews on many different websites. I Messaged his former patients with questions. Looked at all the photos and then requested a phone consultation. He called me the next day or two and we had a great conversation. He said he would remove bags, no fat reposition or transfer, hard to predic long term outcome, and we can tweak things later with injections if we had to.
His office staff was great helping me to schedule my surgery. They were patient with me, I kept hesitating scheduling my surgery with more questions. Dr. Kapadia would call or email to answer my many questions.
I flew in for my consultation, and Dr. Kapadia made very good impression on me. Kind, understanding, honest, confident but not arrogant, doesn’t make unrealistic promises. The surgery was in Tafts hospital, they got super nice and caring people working there. It is not a fancy hospital but it is a nice hospital. Dr. Kapadia spent good amount of time with me before surgery. Once again answered my questions. I got to chat with my anesthesiologist, super nice guy, the resident doctor was there all the time, nurses that would be involved, there were so many people around me. I felt relaxed, so relaxed my blood pressure was lower than usual. My hubby was allowed to sit there entire time, although the wanted to leave, all needles made him uncomfortable.
They rolled me in to the surgery . I remember a large room, Dr Kapadia was there, I remember the face of the anesthesiologist with a needle, and then I was out.
I woke up in recovery with ice eye mask on my eyes, I heard Dr. Kapadia talking. I asked him how it went, he said all is good. Then he gave my husband his phone and email in case I needed him. My hubby got eye ointment and painkillers right there at the hospital pharmacy. I loved how they have a pharmacy right there. They also gave me eye masks for ice compress, and instructions on aftercare. I felt a little woozy , but I could open my eyes and I could see clearly with no problem. I thought to my self , I am not blind and I am alive, yeah! They rolled me in a wheelchair to the exit and I actually could walk to the hotel across the street.
I got the hotel room and fell asleep. First day was a blur, second day better but with a headache similar to a hangover. I had some bruising but not much.
I had minimal swelling, waited for more swelling but I did not happen. The eye bags were gone!
I emailed Dr. Kapadia in Christmas Eve and he replied to me within hours. He always responds to emails right away. I don’t know any other doctor who is so easy to reach when you need help.
A week later I went for a follow up. As soon as Dr. Kapadia saw me in the hall on his way to the office, he started to look at my eyes, and you could see he really cared. He said very good for one week! Then I had an actual follow up. He said all is good and did not mention much about fillers and when would be appropriate time for it. Then I asked him about the fillers , he said to give it 3-4 months and then if I am not happy we can tweak any hollowness, but hopefully I will be happy. He said I got a skinny face and may not need any fillers. Now I am two weeks post op , and I look very good I think. I am starting to realize maybe I will not need any injections after all, and Dr. Kapadia knows what is best for his patients. I look forward to seeing more improvements as I keep healing.
One thing I was confused about is the fat reposition and fat transfer other surgeons love and recommend. After having done a lot of reading I realized that fat will continue to change as we age, and sooner or later will need to be addressed again. Plus the surgery for fat reposition carries more risks and longer recovery time. Where fillers are injected every couple of years, and you can modify them as you age without any additional hassle with fat.
Dr. Kapadia is amazing! I am so glad he did my eyes. It feels like nothing ever happened except the bags are gone!
I am not posting any photos , if anybody has questions feel free to PM me and I can show you my before and after.
