7.5 Months After my Upper & Lower Blepharoplasty Surgery

Posting an Update of what my Surgery Outcome looks like 7.5 months after my eye surgery. I have been reaching out to Dr. Patels office to discuss a partial refund of the total that I paid for my surgical procedures and the response has been not what I expected.

Disappointed with Upper & Lower Blepharoplasty

I had an upper & lower Blepharoplasty with fat grafting done on 8/20/24. Six days after my surgery my stitches came out on my left upper eyelid. I reached out to Dr. Patel’s office to let him know and asked to come in that day to get my stitches redone but was told he couldn’t see me that day because he had just left for the day, but that I could come in the following day to have it taken care of. I explained my concerns regarding waiting to come in the following day, but Dr. Patel told me it wouldn’t make a difference in my healing if I waited till the following day. I should mention that no stitches came out on my right eye, but I still ended up with a web like scar on my right eye that can be seen in my photos. I also was told that the stitches coming out was my fault, not the surgeons, even though I was extremely careful and diligent taking care of my eyes and followed my aftercare instructions. I was extremely concerned at this point, how my eyes would end up healing.

Another question I had was had there been enough of the loose skin on my upper eyelids removed? In my opinion, I still have quite a bit of hooding almost 6 months post op, but was reassured that this is due to swelling? Though everything I have read and researched, has said that all swelling would be gone 3 months post-op.

As far as the fat grafting under my eyes is concerned, they look no different than before my surgery, which this was of course, a few thousand dollars more to have done.

After going in to his office at least 4 times now since my surgery back in August, Dr. Patel agreed to redo my eye surgery but wants me to wait a full year before doing so? My under eye area now has fairly pronounced wrinkles that I didn’t have prior to my surgery due to the angle of the area of excess skin that was removed. I also think that more excess skin should be removed, as there is still a good amount of loose skin that remains.

My recovery and time off of work was 3 weeks which was time off with no pay. At first I agreed to let Dr. Patel redo my surgery, but now I am apprehensive to have this done again. Also, there will be a loss of income of roughly $3,000 when I take more time off of work, which is unfair to me and something I can’t afford to do at this time.

So, if anyone has went through something similar, could you tell me what the surgeon offered to do for you in the situation? I am extremely unhappy with how my surgery turned out and I would rather have my money back, being I am fearful of how it might turn out again.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
