Chalazion Treatment

Excellent experience. I had a terrible stye that, after conservative treatment, had developed into cellulitis. I contacted Dr. Landmann through his virtual service and received oral antibiotics and antibiotic/steroid eye drops which began to help right away. A few days later I went to a local ophthalmologist and received a steroid injection as he confirmed that the stye was transitioning to a chalazion. While the steroid reduced the bulk of the swelling immediately, I was left with a visible white steroid deposit under my eyelid as well as residual tissue from the chalazion, which was hardened. I went to another ophthalmologist and he recommended long-term, daily doxycycline and heating pads for the chalazion. I did this religiously, but it never improved any further. Dr. Landmann's office reached out to me a while later to ask how I had improved since the virtual visit and I explained that I now needed surgery, but needed a surgeon that would sedate me as I had been through the surgery once before awake and did not want to go through that again. To my pleasant surprise, the office confirmed that Dr. Landmann was a surgeon, could remove it, and offered the option of sedation.

When I met Dr. Landmann for the consultation, he was very caring and pleasant, and he listened and addressed all of my concerns. His team was very supportive as well. I chose to do the surgery and I was sedated, my eyelid was everted and clamped, and the doctor removed the chalazion and steroid deposit. I was worried that it may take more than one surgery to remove it all and I explained this to the doctor -- he made sure to get it all out in one shot. My eye was purple and bruised and hurt on the first day, but after was just a little sore. Within two weeks, it all healed up and you could never tell that a chalazion was ever there.

I am very grateful to have gone to Dr. Landmann with my chalazion and I will certainly go back with any other issues with my eyes. My experience was excellent - many thanks to Dr. Landmann and his wonderful team!
