My Experience Getting Coolsculpting

Although I got this procedure almost 6 months ago I want to share my experience. I went in for my procedure on 11/4/2019. They weighed me..162 & I am 5’6 (although my home scale said 165). Then they took my before photos from a few angles( I emailed them to get copies of them I will post once I get them). The procedure itself was painless. A little cold but in my opinion it just felt like a vacuum and ice pack against my skin. I had two applicators on my lower abdomen. They warned me the 2 minute massage afterwards is the most painful part for most patients.. they weren’t wrong. That being said it was very tolerable and for the first minute I was so numb I felt nothing at all. I’d say a 4 out of 10 for the last minute. When I got home I was still very numb and it just felt heavy. I’m attaching photos I had taken at home of my “before” but will post the ones they took at the medspa once I receive them.

The day 2 & 3

I was warned swelling and some bruising was to be expected so I wasn’t concerned. Other than the heavy feeling in my lower abdomen I wasn’t in any pain. I went to work although I did have to wear dress pants with an elastic waist due to the swelling. Halfway through the day I went to the bathroom. When I pulled down my pants and saw my stomach I’m not going to lie I was shocked. I had bruised sooo much in just a few hours. I made it through the rest of my work day without any problems (I have a desk job). When I got home I was so swollen so I decided to put on a “panty faja” in an effort to help control the swelling. I woke up in the middle of the night to pee and while on the toilet I became clammy shaky and extremely dizzy. I then passed out. My boyfriend apparently heard me fall and rushed to me. I woke up in a chair he had sat me in with him holding me up but still felt dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out again. This went on for about 10-15 minutes. After drinking some water, then some soda (to see if the sugar would help), and putting my head between my legs I finally felt better and went back to sleep. I’m honestly not sure if this was normal. I’m attaching photos of when I first saw my stomach begin to swell, bruise, and then by the end of the day

Oh my, just saw the bruises. Ouch, ouch, ouch. I prepaid for CS and now am freaking out. Any tips? Thanks

I wouldn’t say it was painful. Only when I would lean against something...basically like a regular bruise. It was although veryyy swollen so it felt heavy and that was a weird feeling. As you can see in the pics I actually wore my maternity pants from my last pregnancy the day after to work bc I felt I needed the slight compression in order to be comfortable bc it’s so swollen it feels like my skin was stretching even more.

I know you said you prepaid so I reallyyyy hope this works for you.....but in my experience and what I’ve now heard from others unless you are already veryyy thin it rarely does. And in my case the fat actually clumped together and became harder. I am 11 days post op lipo 360 (under just local) and the surgeon told me he had a hard time breaking it up in the area I got coolsculpted. If you are able to get refunded if honestly look into doing that and just getting lipo. The recovery for me has been almost the same! I also got a fat transfer to my butt...I went back to work (from home) on day 6. But had I gotten just the lipo and could sit in the office I could have easily gone back on day 3. And in your case I’m assuming you aren’t doing your whole abdomen, waist, and back..., you definitely do this on a Friday and go back on Monday if time off is an issue for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to ask for a refund. I'm terrified of it going wrong. I bought 8 cycles for my flanks/muffin top. (2 rounds of 4). Got talked into it over the phone. I'm so frustrated with myself. $3300 I'm happy you're loving lipo. I'm sorry your CS didn't go well. How long in between CS and lipo? Thanks again for your help.

3,300!? Oh no girl I paid $4600 for lipo alllll around my abdomen and the transfer. So I’m sure just getting ur flanks lipo’d would be wayyy cheaper than what you paid for the coolsculpting! I’d re read any paperwork you signed (or since it was over the phone I assume they still emailed your receipt and additional paperwork?) see what is their policy on refunds. If you see they have a “no refunds” thing.....lie say you’ve been having medical issues and ur pcp said you could not go through with the coolsculpting!

Actually, it wouldn’t be a lie. How I got here was my real medical concerns, my Dr. will be horrified. I could deal with a mediocre CS experience. (Wouldn’t love it but I would deal with it.) I’m terrified of complications. When the CS woman dismissed my health concerns about my tendency to bruise, swell, etc., it was a red flag. (Fortunately, I have a text record.) Also, my concerns about having Cooltone during my period, she said that was totally false. I went to Cooltone’s site and it specifically says to avoid during your period! (Yes, I bought a package of Cooltone too. Not my best moment w/my AMEX.) And then she said to stop reading Real Self. It made me read more! I wondered what she was hiding? Seeing your bruises and reading about you passing out, it made me dizzy. I appreciate you sharing your CS experience. Good karma your way! And I can’t thank you enough for your candor about the lipo. Makes sense to have something like this under the care of a medical professional, not a Med Spa. •Dr. here I come. :)

Oh no I’m not even a big bruiser and I reacted that way to the coolsculpting. Mind you with the lipo I barely bruised anywhere on my abdomen (I also have a post on it if you are interested) I’m so glad I could help! Wishing you the best!

Did you end up with any favorable results after a few months?
March 1, 2021
No I do not recommend. Honestly, just do lipo. It ends up being basically the same price (coolsculpting needs multiple rounds). And in my opinion the healing for lipo was a breeze. I had a fat transfer so I needed to take a few days off and then work from home but if it was just lipo I could have gotten it done on a Friday and been at work on Monday. Also, it can be done under local anesthesia (I had lipo 360 and bbl all under local)

2 weeks and 3 days later

Everyday my swelling went down a bit more. By one weeks My lower abdomen was no longer numb/bruised feeling but instead I felt an itch under my skin. By 2 weeks I felt 100% normal and was kind of amazed bc I was told not to expect to see any results until 6 weeks and then final results at 12 weeks. I must say I had completelyyyy changed my diet. I was counting calories (about 1,100 calories a day) and only drinking water tons of it. So I weighed myself at home it said I was 162. That is what they said my beginning weight was at the medspa but when I weighed myself at home on my cheap scale it said 165. Sooo I think part of the fast result was the fact I may have lost 3 pounds in those 2 1/2 weeks from dieting. I’m attaching photos of me after 2 weeks and 3 days.
