Worst part about this was the fatigue and nausea

I'm feeling fantastic. I'm a little paranoid with the flatness, but my surgeon is very confident and I trust her.

I had my drains removed yesterday, and honestly that's the only time my chest has felt any kind of soreness. They weren't that bad coming out, just a little irritated at the incision. Otherwise it just felt funny. I get my stitches out on Tuesday, and hopefully I can start training again soon after that. Since the hour I came out of surgery, I have had complete range of motion in my arms. Also any push/pull motions at not difficult.

I have one thing that may help for those having a hard time with throbbing - deep breathing. Somehow or another, whenever I exhaled on a deep breath my throbbing at the incisions went away. I am actually surprised at how much of a difference it made, and helped me to go back to sleep.

My consult and time with the doc was pretty straightforward; going in there, there was no doubt what I wanted. I told her she was the expert, I was just along for the perfect end result. I knew I just wanted to be small, and she agreed that a small B would suit me just fine (I'm only 5ft). I went with Doctor Marble because I spoke to 2 different women who had a reduction done by her, both with wonderful things to say. It would have been impossible to proceed with this if not for my medical insurance. I broke my foot about 3 weeks ago, so while I am walkin around with no boot, I have not been able to exercise in the least. That, coupled with my period due the same week of the surgery, have made my weight go up a bit. I wonder if this will effect the anesthesia? I'm not sure how they know how much to give, so I assume it has to do with height and weight. My biggest concern with the procedure is the recovery; I'm a massage therapist and own my own business. I need to be back at work ASAP, but took the week after surgery off. Obviously I know I can move my appointments if necessary, but I HATE doing that to my clients. My theory is this; if I can work through torn pec muscles and a broken foot, taking a week off to get back at it shouldn't be a worry for 1 client a day. I am hopeful that I can begin my conditioning workouts as soon as my foot heals (roughly the end of October, if we go by the 6-8 weeks of bone healing). I participate in MMA and BJJ, and hope the conditioning my body has received over the last few years has prepped me for such a surgery. I am down to 36 hours before I have to be checked in to the hospital, where they will be keeping me overnight. I hope and pray for an easy surgery, and hope even more that my experience may help someone else one day. As my lifestyle is largely different than most women, maybe this will help another person.

Not that bad!

I'm roughly 24 hours post op, and am handling pain with a perk every 6 hours. I feel confident enough that I can handle it with the Tylenol with codeine when I get home. Spent all last night in the hospital, and I'm honestly glad I did. I got to see dr marble first thing in the morning, and she really did a fabulous job. I have very minimal bruising, and really not much swelling. They are very flat right now, but the doctor said they would drop over time. I was hopeful to get the drains removed before I went home, but Dr. Marble feels that with me up and moving around, it would be best to keep them in until my follow up in 2 days. Pain is not a big deal, and when I was sleeping last night I found that if I had a particularly hard moment, I would take a deep breath and as I exhaled it took the pain away. All in all, I am thrilled with the performance of the staff and the doctor I chose.

Countdown to breast reduction in 36 hours! I have...

Countdown to breast reduction in 36 hours! I have been fearful of whether this is something I really want (ever since I was 15!) but am past the point of doubt and I'm ready to get this going. I am even more hopeful that this surgery is just what my body needs to reach the next level of physical fitness and psychological comfort. Plus I'm really sick of pulling my pec muscles during training, and the one left boob is smaller than the other. Can't wait for the weight to be lifted!
