After losing 70# thru weight loss surgery I had my tt with Lipo and tightening of my abdominal muscle. I previously had c section x2. I had 8# of skin taken off. Per dr kang a significant amount was removed. Pain was minimal. I e experience worst pain than this. I'm 2weeks post op and today had one drain removed. My only problem is swelling. Most of my clothes do not fit. I gained 10# right away. I weighed myself when I came home from the hospital. I didn't quite expect that! My legs look like sausages. I'll have to post px

Congrats on you procedure. I am 3 weeks post op and have the same problem. My clothes don't fit and I swollen. I went out last week and bought some maxi dresses. Good luck!! Hopefully both of us fit in our clothes soon!! :-)

Tx I was scared about the wt gain.

Me to. I lost 95lbs before my surgery. I'm also hungry all the time. I feel better with food in my stomach. So that also is freaking me out since I'm a food addict. They say not to weigh yourself. We are retaining fluid that is why we are swollen. But that is easier said then done.

I am obsessive about weighing myself but that's the only way for me to keep an eye on it. We check blood pressures and sugars. I don't see the difference

We all gain wt. right after the procedure because of all the IV fluids that are infused during surgery. Most of us swell too and it takes a while to fit back into your clothes. Be patient!

They don't give you that much Iv fluids to gain 20# in one day!

No, not JUST because of IV fluids. Much of it is swelling just from trauma to all the lymphatics that are affected by this surgery.

It was the single biggest surprise I had after surgery- I gained over 30 lbs in what seemed like hours!!! Freaking out doesn't cover what I felt!!! I had lost 265 lbs over 2 years, and had massive amounts of skin removed, and now- bam... nothing would fit me... I went from a 36 waist down to a 31 in waist just from the skin removal...but during the first 6 weeks post-op, I was wearing 40's, 38's, 36's- whatever I could get on depending upon the swelling!! 4 drains in me for 3 weeks, and was producing atleast 60 cc's each day! Doctors, as well as us who have gone thru this, really need to get out there that swelling IS going to happen, and to NOT freak out...it will go back to "normal", but seeing as most of us reading this are in the same boat- what is "normal" to somebody who has lost significant amounts of weigh? BUT- Best choice I ever made!!! Hang in there :)

So Jeff1996 did the 30lbs go away after you recovered? Or are you still healing and hoping like me :-)

Yes, all be it that it did seem like a long time for the swelling to go down, but really it was about 6-8 weeks out that it began to disappear (the fluid build up) and actually had a night I sweated out a quart or two of water- completely soaked in the morning!! Also, even tho you are retaining fluids, DO NOT let yourself get dehydrated- you must keep drinking to help your skin...seems counter-intuitive but it is what it is :) And stretch out, and stand tall...you NEED to think about doing it. If I didn't, I'd stay hunched over...cause it was a lot less painful... humans, like water and electricity- seek out the path of least resistance!! The weight will come back off, sometimes slowly, and sometimes in chunks... my suggestion- loose jeans, sweat's when u can, and get up and move.... Good luck...IT WILL BE WORTH IT :)

Tx yes I was shocked with the 20#,gain. And yes we need to get it out there. I haven't experienced anything else reporters here. So you can understand my panic every time I eat now. So I have to make myself eat. It's like what I hear people say a about wleight loss oh yeah they gain all their wt back. I always vowed I wouldn't and would prove them wrong

My dr says it will come off in a,few weeks. I don't think so.

Thank you Jeff!! I bought loose dresses for work and that seems to work great. I'm trying to get down lots of water but I'm finding it hard during the day at work. I think I'll set up a reminder on my computer for ever 15 min to pop- up telling me to drink :-)

Erie - I'm so glad you and everyone else on this thread said this. I have been reading other journals and they are talking about putting in skinny jeans and thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Because I tried to put on my work slacks that where to big before surgery and they are to small. You and Jeff have made my day!! Thank you!!
