So this week I had my final appointment and have been discharged! Was told I am healing well and i can go back to running and the gym, and get out of the sports bras! So i celebrated by going straight to m&s to get fitted.. was shocked to be told a 34E! I was 34C pre op (more like a B but needed a C for all the lovely stretched skin!) But was happy to purchase my first plunge bra (could never have worn one before I just fell out) and my first bikini top! Felt surreal! Usually buying bras was disappointing and made me feel down. This was totally different and felt like such a weight being lifted. My only issue is that 34E doesn't seem to be all that common! Haha I can deal with that issue!! :)
I went for my first run in the sun today which also felt good. Very happy :) although my surgeon said i didnt need to use silicone strips (he recommends massing for 10 mins daily with aveeno) he said it wouldn't do any harm so I'm giving them a go. Onwards and upwards.. feel like I get on with my life now and not have that constant worry/thought/ashamed feeling about myself.. I finally look & feel normal.. it's exciting :)
If you're thinking of surgery yourself.. it is a journey. It really is tough at the beginning so you need to really want it. If you're having doubts.. take some time to think about it. Having said that, although the first 2 weeks are tough (mentally as well as physically) it does get easier and from 4 weeks I found I was just getting on with stuff and getting my life back! I look back and think what's 2 weeks?! In the grand scheme of things.. nothing! I never regretted it, just needed to remind myself it was worth it at times. And it definitely is. I knew it wasn't a quick fix for self confidence but it really is improving mine. I'm planning a travelling trip on my own for next summer now! Wouldn't have done that before! Onwards & upwards :D

Thought it was about time I uploaded some more photos! The suspected eczema is still there (all over as you can see) but has looked a little less red the past couple of days so please excuse that on the pics! The skin is still extremely dry. I still have a couple of scabs that aren't quite ready to come off yet too. My boobs now feel like they belong to me, they're much softer and actually move! Haha. The right is still a bit firmer though. My left is bit bigger and lower which was to be expected as the surgeon said there would still be some asymmetry. I don't mind, they're sister's not twins and are SO much better than before that I'm not gonna obsess. I think he has achieved the natural look I wanted. I am just looking forward to healing fully and wearing what I want!! I was eyeing up those lacy bralets in the shops yesterday!
The past week I've been sleeping on my side at times with the support of pillow walls and the spooning the v pillow! :)
I've been advised to use pressure as I moisturise the scars to break down scar tissue... how much pressure do others use, did you find it uncomfortable and when did you notice difference in how they felt?
I think the scars are healing okay? I'm trying not to compare with others cause we are all different!
Next check up is at 6 weeks post op.

Still looking great! Sorry to hear about the eczema and dryness. Just curious how much water are you drinking? Dry skin can be caused by dehydration not to mention the body need more water postoperatively to heal the damaged cells. I was instructed to drink at least 2 liters of water per day following my surgery. I may have mentioned before I found Aquaphor (a non-antiseptic healing ointment) very helpful for dryness. It’s actually recommended by a number of PS for post op healing. The reason Aquaphor is very effective because there’s very little water in it. Most lotions and creams (even Aveeno) have a lot of water in them. They moisten the top layers of skin for short period of time. However upon evaporation of the water in the cream the skin is dry again... sometimes feeling even more chapped. Ointments such as Aquaphor provides a longer lasting protective coating on the skin and prevent the water from evaporating out of the skin cells. If you decide to try and ointment such as Aquaphor the best way to apply it is to rub it through your hands first then gently pat on. I usually take a tissue afterwards to pat off any excess.
As for applying pressure to your incisions when moisturizing you may want to post your question regarding this in the “ask a doctor” section. My Own PS does not recommend massage for scar therapy but would be more inclined to suggest scar tape. I’m also big believer in scar tape/sheeting for therapy. I like the fact that I can just put it on and forget about it... Good luck. :-)

Hey thanks for your comment! At first i was drinking loads but i have to admit ive been slacking again recently and although I often suffer from dry skin, it's crazy at the moment it is dry and flakey literally all over my body. I was putting it down to our recent cold weather and having the heating on! Definitely will increase the water intake. Thanks for all the info, I was wondering about asking my surgeon about a better cream to treat it but it appears to be going down so I'm going to wait til Tuesday and see where I'm at as that's his clinic day. In the meantime I'll have a Google and see if we have Aquaphor in the UK or what the equivalent is, thanks :) I've used dermol on other areas of eczema which I got over the counter and recommended by a doctor before.
The surgeon said that scar tape/gel is for later down the line so I was planning on asking about that at the 6 week check up, especially as I still have scabs so not done healing yet. When did you start with the scar tape? You used embrace didn't you? Did you try anything else?
So strange how much different advice there is depending on the surgeon! Yet most seem to get pretty good results! :)

Hi again. yes so true about different PS giving different types of advice. I feel part of the reason for this is that many of them are just not up to date on current wound care methods not to mention the latest studies on a number of different matters. If you Google the words “covered or uncovered” and “wounds” you’ll see that current wound case advice is to keep your wounds moist (although not wet) and covered for quicker healing and less scarring. This is opposed to the olden days where they used to believe that open air and oxygen was good problem healing. Yet there are a number of PS that still adhere to the old method of wound healing.
In any case scar therapy is just a continuation of good wound care, imo. So I pretty much kept my incisions covered from day one of my surgery (with steri-strips and medical tapes). And at about one month postop (when my incisions were completely fused) my PS gave me clearance to use silicone scar strips. My first surgery I tried a few different scar sheet brands (i.e. newgel sheets, Embrace, CVS, etc) but primarily used newgel sheets. After my second surgery (scar revision) I decided to stick with Embrace scar therapy because I just didn’t get the results that I just hoped for with the Newgels. I have an Embrace Scar therapy review here with more details that you may interested in checking out. Good luck. :-)

Please excuse typos. I meant to say “wound healing” not “problem healing”
Yeh I have read your embrace review before :) thank you! I have then put scar tape/sheets out my mind until I'm given the go ahead to try something.
That's interesting because say if I have a cut, I find covering it 24/7 actually prolongs the healing a lot of the time. Maybe people heal differently Though? It's interesting. I imagine there are some counter arguments/ findings too or the usual method has always worked for a surgeon so perhaps another reason for sticking with it. And then there's always the factor of just how your skin is and how it scars.. some people scar darker than others regardless. My skin is absolutely covered in stretch marks and been through a lot so I'm not expecting any miracles haha :)

Btw your advice is really useful and you're well knowledged, thank you! X
True there are many different factors in wound healing. One thing about covering a wound is that the scab does not get hard which may lead people to believe the wound is not healing very fast. When the wound is covered it usually stays pink as the skin is growing back slowly. Allowing a hard scab to form usually results in more scarring according to scientific studies. Another problem that can occur when covering a wound is pulling (irritating) the wound every time you remove the dressing thereby delaying the healing process. So it’s important to use lots of lubricant on the dressing. I also use medical adhesive remover wipes when removing dressings or tapes to ensure I don’t irritate my wounds. There is also a tendency for bacteria to grow in moist environments; so you want to make sure you change out the dressing (on an open wound) at least once a day according to my PS. Lastly if you use antibiotic creams this can result in yeast infections on the skin especially if the wound is covered. My PS does not recommend antibiotic creams unless you have an infection. Hope this info is helpful. :-)
I think you look amazing. please can you tell me who your surgeon was

Eczema?
At 2 weeks + 1 day post op (Tuesday), I had my stitches out. Although the rash seems to have spread, he isn't concerned about being an infection. He's suggested wearing a vest at night rather than the bra incase the skin is reacting to being in a tight bra all day and night.
Unfortunately it has continued to spread across my entire breasts, nowhere else. I'm now wondering where it is eczema. I do suffer from eczema from time to time although never on my breasts before. However they were always kept hidden away! I'm wondering whether the surgery including anything applied to the skin, followed by the twice daily washing and drying with a hairdryer and no moisturiser for a while has caused eczema. Has anyone else experienced eczema or any kind of rash following surgery? I'm still using the aveeno as I used it without issue before surgery and it is meant to sensitive skin and those with eczema. The skin is dry so does need something! I'm not sure how long to ride it out before seeing him again and possibly trying a prescribed cream or something?
Other than that, healing is going well! The implants have dropped and my boobs actually move!! I will put more photos but they currently aren't pretty covered in a red rash! Tomorrow marks 3 weeks post op.

Ah not too far then. Yes definitely a big decision choosing the right surgeon! Have you been to any consultations? I Had been to a few and I just felt different st this one, I trusted him and was excited. Definitely advisable to do your research so you can ask questions and understand why your surgeon suggests what s/he does. You will get different opinions and some surgeons seem to go fir a certain look, for example mine seems to go for the natural look (I'm sure you could ask for a more "fake" look but you would probably go to a different surgeon who did that more if that's the case). Is it an uplift and impalnts you want too? X
