1 Year On

I can’t believe it’s now a year since my breast reduction. Like many women on here, I can honestly say it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, it has changed my life for the better. True to British weather, the heat has suddenly struck lol. I can wear clothes that would never have been possible before surgery, no longer have sores or heat rashes underneath and it’s done wonders for my confidence. Buying bras/ tops is now pleasurable!
The scaring is minimal and to be honest, I’d rather have scaring any day over the huge weight I had hanging there before.
My consultant was very happy with his handy work and I could highly recommend him.
Obviously, it’s a big operation and can have complications, however, with the right care and attitude, I believe that for the majority, it’s probably the best thing you’ll ever do.

Two month pic update!!

You can see from these photos that I still have a little bruising on my left breast, apparently it’s nothing to worry about and it is fading. Small area just below the nipple where there was a small scab but that had now cleared and it’s just a bit dry. Starting to feel a lot softer now and they’re changing shape. The scars underneath are barely visible as they’re under the natural fold of the breasts.

Two month post op.

I can’t believe it’s two months since I had my BR. I’m feeling really well now but my healing hasn’t been without complications. I had wound breakdown on both breasts at the t junction unfortunately. The nurses at my local doctors have been amazing and looked after me really well. I’ve been going down every other day to get my dressings changed which has meant they’ve been able to keep a close eye on things. I had a months worth of antibiotics as there was a slight infection, they wanted to be certain it was totally clear.
My dressings have now been removed and my scars are looking good. I’m now moisturising with cocoa butter and the girls are feeling softer and starting to drop slightly. They do appear to change shape and size daily. I still have days where they’re tender and swollen but I suppose it depends on how busy I’ve been during the day. It’s also been extremely warm for the time of year so maybe the heat has something to do with it?
I’m still wearing my post op compression bras, day and night, as I actually like them and they feel supportive. I’m off to Manchester this week while I’m on half term hol, to get measured professionally for a bra. They don’t measure the conventional way so I won’t really know what cup size I am? I don’t know if I really want to know lol as many women on here appear to be much larger than they hoped. The photos look amazing and don’t look anything like the sizes they’ve been measured at?? I suppose it’s how you feel really, but if you were told you’d be around a c/d cup, to find out you’re an f/ff and above, you’d be pretty p—-ed off!!
Actively, I’m pretty much back to normal. The only thing I really can’t do at the moment is cut the lawn (poor mum!) Having the wound complications has put my healing back somewhat but each day I see an improvement.
To all you a amazing ladies who have had/ having a reduction, be gentle with yourself, take things easy and remember, we all heal very differently. Don’t overdo things when you start to feel a little better (week 2-3) You’ll regret it!!
