I have my pre-op appointment this Friday (where I pay my balance). I have been on this site for the past few days- thank you everyone for sharing! I really feel I have a good idea what to expect now- basically it sounds like I need a good month before I even begin to feel right again! I am very skinny, but with a lot of damage from my two pregnancies and c-sections. I have a herniated(sp?) belly button and no muscles in front! I think that since I am so skinny it sticks out more because I am asked constantly if I am pregnant! So tired of that!

I am really nervous about how I will take care of my two boys (5 year old and 3 year old) when I am hunched over and still afraid of pooping! Mommies, let me know how you are coping!

Any other moms out there able to share their experiences? I know that caring for small children after a tummy tuck is difficult, but after the first week or so, I believe it's do-able. Just please make sure you have plenty of help for the first few days.

Definitely have help for the first week! You will be very very sore and need to rest.
July 8, 2010
I am actually staying in a hotel for 2 days with a nurse and then she is taking me to my mom's for the rest of the week. The kids are set up with day care and my mother in law is chipping in. I feel so very lucky to have that first week with my mom-it'll be just like old times!

That is nice! You will need your mom.

I am 4 weeks tomorrow post-op from a tt and breast aug and after 1 week was able to do some simple household chores and get around pretty good. My husband did everything around the house including caring for me the first week because it is very hard to do anything, but I do recommend walking as much as possible if recommended by your ps. Walking seemed to help me recover quickly and at this point I feel like Im 100% until I try to do certain exersises or stretching then I realize I still am sore. The swelling is kind of irritating too since after going through all the pain you would like to see immediate results and the swelling definitely prevents this except for the breasts, they are immediate results and seems almost pain-free compared to the tt!

Thanks- one week doesn't sound so bad. My hubby can handle that, I hope! I have heard that the swelling is annoying from a results point of view, and that's one of the reasons I am so thankful for this site- so someone can tell you what to really expect! I'm glad everything went well for you and I hope mine is the same!

Less than one week away! I fluctuate between excited and nervous! After going to rite aid and buying all my medications and post op necessities I am very nervous today. I hope the breast aug doesn't take too long to heal up so I can start using my arms to help me move around. I think that will help with the recovery from the TT. When can I put my hands over my head? Anyone know?

Im sure yours will be fine too! One other thing I forgot to mention are the dreaded drainage tubes, they are such a pain but thankfully they don't stay in for usually more than 2 weeks, mine were in 7 days and I felt such relief after they were taken out, almost passed out though, lol! I will pray for you to have a speedy recovery and yes be very thankful and grateful to have such good support/help afterwards.

You need help for the first week, I will say for the first week and a half, specially with little ones. I had no paid, I was just uncomfortable.Good Luck with your surgery!

I had a TT, lift and aug two months ago.I am 30 years old. The first 3 days dont expect to be able to do anything. My husband had to lift my legs off the pillow that was under my knees for me!!! On day 4 I washed my own hair in the sink and it was so good to have clean hair but I used all my energy for that day! You should have 24 hr care for you and help with your children planned out. I had no issues and healed quickly. My results are amazing. I requested a super low incision and because I did not have a lot of skin down low-I got a bonus upper leg lift and vag lift! I could stand up straight after about 11 days. I didnt have any lipo but wished I had some in my flanks. Something super important that every doctor should share: when standing up, start on a sitting and straighten back and pull shoulders back first before standing. This will help you stand straighter and will alleviate the lower back pain-of course you wont be able to do this for a few days. Walk, walk, walk! Start taking stool softeners now and drink as much water as possible. Good luck! PS I have a great doctor in Carlsbad who operated in La Jolla

Thank you for your advice, especially on the standing procedure! I have had two c-sections and I know that walking helped me so much in my recovery from those! It sounds like you had a great recovery and I hope mine goes as well. Thank you for your reply!
July 12, 2010
I wish you all the best with your surgery. I am having mine done in a few days, actually the day before yours...soo yes I know how nervous you are. Please keep us updated with your healing and again good luck!

Thanks for the well wishes! I hope the same for you as well. I went shopping today and browsed a clothing store- not I'm excited! It is going to be great to fit into stylish clothes! ;p

I have now survived the tummy tuck!!!! I am so glad the past three days are behind me! I was so nervous Friday (surgey day) but of course, that was the easy part. I was under for 5 hours, including the BA and was so groggy when they woke me- I kept begging them to let me take a nap before the nurse drove me to the hotel. That night I slept and slept! The next day was exciting because I was 1. Alive and 2. I had boobs. I walked a little, had a few visiters at the hotel... it was looking good. But the next day I had a few post-surery blues. I felt like I had made a mistake and I would never be the same again and really felt it wasn't worth it. A few calls to my hubby and then to my best friend made me feel a little better and as the soreness subsides, I decided to save my judgements for later. Today is much better, but I will say the mornings are rough! Sore, not much sleep, but within a few hours, I am feeling much better. I can say, my tummy is flat, and no one will ask me when my baby is due!!! I will try to get some photos up soon!

I've heard you can't lift anything really heavy for months. So, your kiddos will be off-limits. I have a three year old grand-daughter I will be taking care of in Sept.-Dec for her mom, so, this is obviously an issue that I know of.
July 21, 2010
Yes, I've told my kids I cannot pick them up anymore- I had been trying not to pick them up much anymore just to save my back. Now I have an excuse!

Congratulations on your new body!! How are you feeling? Hope you are doing well. The first days are the hardest. You will feel better as each day passes. In the mean time take it easy and get plenty of rest.
July 21, 2010
Ahh rest would be so great! I have such a hard time sleeping. I can't sleep on my back, so I try to roll onto my side, but ouch! So I roll onto my back again. This is how I spend my nights. Hopefully tonight will be better! I do love my new body though- I know it will all be worth it!

Glad to hear you love you new body!! Yeah, sleeping is one of the hardest things for me too. Like you, I try to roll onto my side but I quickly return to my back because it hurts. I am 13 days post op today and still having a hard time with this. We must both hang in there. Things will get better soon!! Take care! :)
July 27, 2010
How are you sleeping now? I was able to roll over and then yesterday I pulled a muscle in my abs!!! Talk about a new pain! I'm back on my back with pillows all around and so sad! The doctor said it was nothing to worry about- it'll go away on it's own in about a week, but it is so disheartening!

Well I'm 3 weeks post op 22 days to be exact. I am feeling so much better. I slept on my bed last night for the first time since the surgery and I'm actually able to sleep on my sides. However my boobs do hurt when I sleep like that. I'm assuming yours will too. It will get better though. It's finally gotten better for me and it will for you too. By the way, you look fabulous!! :)
