I asked my doctor (dermo) what to do about the freckling which was sun damage on my face. I also had a decent amount of fine lines. I am very healthy, exercise heavily, keep my self in shape, etc. She did a deep peel with a combination of Jessners/TCA which is usually only mild to medium but she increased the concentration. I don't recommend having this done by anyone other than a reputable doctor. I had to take 4 different antibiotics and be very rigorous with with vinegar soaks and aquaphor. I am nearing the end of my second week and am very happy with the results. However, your collagen keeps rebuilding so I know from others that have had this that your face continues to improve.

Depending upon the extent of your acne and your Fitzpatrick Skin Type you could wind up with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and acne scarring. Acne scarring can improve with one or more chemical peels depending upon the extent and type of acne scarring. Your skin may require other procedures such as subscision, punch grafting or punch elevation. Microneedling and or Fraxel laser or other equivalent laser may also help improve your problem I think chemical peels for discoloration and scarring are an excellent choice. There are so many options in chemical peels to consider when deciding. Depending on the depth of your scarring, you may want to choose a deeper peel. Oftentimes a good medium strength peel, like a Vitamin A peel, can work on minimal scarring and is great for discoloration. Make sure you consult a well trained cosmetic practice with experience in scarring and discoloration correction. SHOW LESS

How long did it take for you to completely peel? I just had a Jessners/TCA peel. I am on day 8, and I still have the thick scabby dark skin on upper cheeks. I have to go back to work in less than 2 days! Wondering what/if I should do to assist the peeling.

They told me to take two weeks off and that I would need to stay inside for two weeks. Mine was considered a deep peel with the percentages she used and I started to peel pretty well on Day 4-5 and was totally peeled by 10.

Ask your doctor what percentage of TCA he used after the Jessner's Peel My advice to you at this point in time would be to stop peeling off your skin and just use the Aquaphor After frequent showers with water only

please keep updating us as time passes. It looks great so far. Was it fairly uncomfortable? How long before you could go out ?

It wasn't painful more discomfort with peeling but vinegar soaks helped a lot ! I could not go outside at all for two weeks and I looked pretty bad for about 10 days

Not Shingles.... I started breaking out 10 days ago and the doctor thought I had shingles, as it turned out I did not....instead I developed some form of acne from clogged pores. I was not given good education on what to or what not to put on my face after my deep Jessner's/TCA peel. I was using La Mer Skin Care and Guerlain Makeup and Cleanser. Apparently these products or just too many of them were too much for my face.

Hi, how are you doing these days? I am very curious about your treatment and wanted to ask if your doctor would perform these types of peels on hispanic skin or type IV? I am looking for a doctor who specializes in peels but there are none in my area and I am thinking of traveling. I am 21 and have textural issues from a recent severe breakout that left me with shallow acne scars on my cheeks. As you said chemical peels seem to be the tested method that does not kill the skin or cause fat loss hence why I'd like to do it. I want to book an appointment with this doctor but I wonder if she does ethnic skin. I will have to call. I also am going to ask my own derm if she may do this type of peel but everyone says to go to a specialized derm mine does not advertise that she does it, is why I'm thinking of going and traveling but am not sure.

I am convinced that this is the best method to if not irradiate but improve my own skin as it has tremendously helped yours! I am also curious to know if you think that this type of peel would be effective on moderate to mild textural acne scarring?

Thanks for the follow-up previous picture....... your skin is very much like mine and I live in Southern California. You have given me the confidence to follow up with at least a consult on the same procedure . Thank you so much

You're welcome....its awesome however I am just recovering but a big breakout small re bumps all over my face. I developed a folicular acne from clogged pores. About three weeks after the peel I started using La Mer which I have used before but I also started using the La Mer 50 Broadsprectrum sunscreen, unfortunately the first ingredient is Avobenzone which along with Oxybenzone is a not something that should be used due to potential irritants. So my advice is make sure you get good education on how to take care of your skin afterwards. I was so used to having sun damaged dry skin that I was loading it up with too much moisturizer and I have spent the last week having to take antibiotics and putting Benzoyl peroxide on my face. All cleared up now thankfully.
