It’s been eight years since my extensive revision surgery with Dr. Le, and I can wholeheartedly say that he restored my identity and self esteem.
After my first devastating surgery from a poorly prepared surgeon, I remember constantly looking for reassurance on a few aspects of revision rhinoplasty. Let me save you some time and give you comfort if you too feel like you lost your identity in a botched rhinoplasty….
My most searched questions after my initial surgery;
1. Can a nose be re-lengthened after a botched rhinoplasty?
Answer: YES. Absolutely. Dr. Le can explain but rib cartilage was one of the ways my length was restored.
2. Can a surgeon restore the look of your old nose?
Answer: YES! Or very very close (if not better). However I would personally only trust Dr. Le due to his unparalleled attention to detail and stellar skillset. My surgery took 13 hours and no one else would have taken that amount of time to “get it right.”
3. Will I ever feel good about myself again and be willing to take pictures?
Answer: Oh sweetie, yes. You’re going to be ok. Do not compromise on your decision to work with the very best doctor to get you through this. Dr. Le was head and shoulders above the other surgeons I met with around the country. You will work together to establish your goals and Dr. Le will get you there. HOWEVER, you have to do your part. Take care of your mental health during this time and follow all instructions post op. He can build you back physically but you’re going to have to build yourself back up mentally. You got this. Everything is going to be alright. This time will pass and you will be back to your happy self again.

Two Years Post Op
Ready to move on.April 8, 2018
It’s been almost two years since my revision, and I am totally pleased with my nose. Dr. Le truly is the most knowledgeable, thorough, and dedicated physician I have ever met. (And I spent over a decade calling on doctors for work). The healing process is lengthy, but it’s remarkable how well he was able to restore my old nose, thus giving me my true “identity” back. That may sound a bit strange, but if you have been through a truly terrible primary, then you know what I mean. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Le. -(one of the southern belle patients)

Please share what Dr. Le did specifically to close your perforation. Did you also have saddling in addition to the perforation? I’m so afraid about choosing the wrong surgeon for my revision and perforation closure and I’d really like it if you would share more about your experience with me.

18 Month Update
Ready to move on.December 17, 2017
I’m 18 months post op and so grateful to Dr. Le for restoring my nose. You should know that the emotional trauma of your primary can require a great deal of healing. While Dr. Le restored my nose, I have had to work on restoring my inner self from the sadness the initial surgery caused. Dr. Le will do his part to fix you physically and it’s our responsibility to do our part to heal emotionally. If you’ve been through a horrible primary like me, this should make sense. I will always be exceedingly grateful to Dr. Le for all he has done. I am happy and thriving. He is truly incredible.

Thank you so much for this update! Like you, I’ve suffered a terrible primary and am having a revision to try and restore “me” in January...next month! I’m so scared but so excited because I trust Dr Le completely. Ive been doing my best this year under the circumstances (by the grace of God), but i am so ready to have MY life back and take pictures with my kids again. Thanks for this post.

Hi... did you have surgery with Dr Le? How did it go? I pray it went well for you and you can feed back. So many of us are looking for hope. X

I believe per her comments that she is looking at having another revision possibly. I had a consult with Le. It was intense but he seemed to be very knowledgeable.

Also can I ask when your revision with Ion was? I just read your review. I am so sorry....he seems to be such a good surgeon. I had a revision (my third surgery) 13 months ago. I have come to accept we will never have a perfect nose with the scar tissue, bone, cartilage etc. involved

I meant that for myself not having a perfect nose. I read what happened with Ion, and again I’m so sorry

I’m so happy for you!
Would you mind answering a few questions? Where was your perforation located? Was it in the midline? Did you have subsequent saddling? How did the width of your nose change with repairing your perforation and rebuilding your structural integrity? Is it slightly wideror very much wider? Did Le use rib, ear or both for grafting? What do those grafts feel like after a year of healing?
I know you’ve stated you won’t post pics of your old nose and that’s fine. I have a very good idea of what your nose looks like, because I’ve been living with that nose for 1.5 years. I have two septal perforations, saddling and a short nose amongst many other issues of less significance, but still very important functionally and cosmetically. Every surgeon I’ve visited states my nose “will be wider” and this is regardless if they have the competence to take on my case. “Wider” is very vague and I’m having a very hard time visualizing the meaning. Would you mind describing this with some detail?
As you know there are very few surgeons with any hours in the O.R. and I’m terrified of choosing another surgeon since this worked out so poorly on my primary. Any further information is very important to me.
