Melasma appeared on my face in 2013. I used obagi bleaching cream ( 3 months) that worked and everything was fine for 2 years. I started to run 5k and despite using sun screen & hats it showed up darker than ever before. Make up would no longer hide it.
In 2016 I decided to go with Halo treatments. That cost $4 and was painful. My skin looked beautiful after 2 treatments. Until a few month later the Melasma came back with a vengeance, spreading more.
In 2017 my face without makeup just looked dirty and it was starting to come through my make up again! So frustrating.
Back to the laser I went. This time did the Clear & Brillance. Less expensive $1800 and 4 treatments later my skin looked great! But Low and bold within a couple of months after the last treatment it's was back with a vengeance spreading even more.
I was so desperate trying to find something, anything that would help. It was starting to be depressing. I read blogs and articles and reviews ,pulled out my IUD ( 6months ago) and now FINALLY have found a combo that has worked for me!!! I know many suffer out there with this and everyone doesn't get the same results. I wanted to share in hopes that this will help someone else.
I first wash my makeup off with philosophy face wash ( I imagine can use any gentle cleanser) with a face scrubber. Next Kojic Acid Soap ($7) Then I apply Porcelain #1($28). This is at bedtime. There is some redness and stings a bit the first 5 nights. The face gets dry but then it peels off and the Melasma came off with it! I had some healing ointment from the laser treatments that I then applied once the creams were dry to help with the dryness of the skin.
I can't explain how excited that I am!!! I hope it will staying working. I will use the Porcelain #1 for 30 days in and 30 days off during the summer to see if that keeps things were they're at.
I have added pictures of everything I am using for reference . The before and after pictures are not the greatest but you can see the difference.

July The month without Porcelain
californiagirl2016July 25, 2018
The skin lighter cream directions were to use twice a day. I moved and my house was under construction so the days I put it on it was only once. The. Melasma went back dark again during the time I was not using Porcelain solution. I stayed out of the sun as much as possible, use sunscreen everyday and wear hats. I'm back to using the #1 Porcelain for 30 days. It's definitely lightening back up and making it more manageable.

I just got amazing results in a week without using hydroquinone. You can find the main product at whole foods on amazon. I documented here https://www.realself.com/review/melasma-treatment-melasma-cured-week-laser-hydroquinone

Found a New Cream
californiagirl2016March 1, 2020
I have found a new cream is one step and is working great! By now I have accepted that I will always need to apply some sort of cream to keep the Melasma at bay. I have found Musley ( it has the highest dose of hydroquinone I’ve ever used 12%) I have used it for 1 month now and see amazing results. The first month I used day and night after washing my face. I only apply it to the dark spot areas. It does cause some redness and dryness especially near the mouth. Once I noticed the dryness around my mouth starting to happen I stopped using it around that area. I’m currently on my 2 month and use it at night time only. Once I’m done with this bottle I will switch to their Hydroquinone free formula. Hopefully I can maintain my results life long. If you’ve been fighting melasma I highly recommend you try this. It is prescribed by a dermatologist. It’s an online visit. You can get if for $60 with my referral code DG1197 at Musely.com

Please Make sure you use a good sunscreen everyday no matter the weather and during summer I also use an umbrella.

Wow, very impressive result, thank you for sharing. I have been suffering from Melasma, my face looks dirty looking because of dark spots, I've seen dermatologists and nothing really help. I would like to give it try.
