I ended up having a weird thing happen with a very localized swelling on the lower part of my stomach...it was hot and red and after a couple of days of being too tender to wear pants I put a gauze pad over it to give me some protection from clothing. Well the darn thing started leaking fluid and I ended up having a small hole form on my incision. After contacting my surgeon he wanted me to go for an U/S where they found that I had pockets of fluid that shouldn't be there. So back to the doctor I went and basically I had to go back in to have the fluid drained. I was hoping for a local and just get it done there but my doctor recommended that I be put out with a general anesthetic so that, in his words, "be as aggressive as needed to clean this out" Lovely. So about a week later I went back in for a "procedure" (surgery?) was put out again and got things taken care of. I was happy that he used my same incision and the recovery this time was way easier, partly because I was only under for an hour, and there wasn't as much cutting into muscle as before. I will be honest I slept like crazy for the next 4 days. Although the antibiotics that I was on after were super hard on my system. At my last visit the doctor explained to me that most likely what happened is that one or more the sutures didn't dissolve and my body just created a pocket of fluid around it, thankfully there was no infection and things are healing really well now. Being almost 3 weeks post warranty work surgery (lol!) I'm really starting to feel like myself again. I didn't realize how exhausted I was all the time before, probably because my body was working harder to figure out how to get that fluid out or keep infection at bay? Who knows. But I do know that I have way more energy now and I'm not swelling as much, I'm starting to really feel amazing and see the results of this surgery!

Just doing a quick photo update. I'm 3 months post op now and still swelling. Really hoping that this is going to start calming down soon I do not enjoy rocking the 5 month pg look at night. I've been slowly getting back into running due to a foot injury so I'm frustrated that I can't go full tilt into getting back into shape. Heading to see the physio therapist today to hopefully get some help so I can get back on track. This is a long process, both mentally and physically but some days I can't believe that I'm this far on the other side of it. Seems like I should still be waiting for my surgery date to come. Even with all the swelling and the long process I have no regrets and would do this in a heart beat! I will need to have a bit of a revision done on my right hip as I'm pretty sure that I have the dreaded dog ear but I'm fine with that.

You look absolutely amazing! Your 'after' photos are a dream to me. I know the swelling must be tough to deal with, but you truly do look AMAZING and I'm sure it's only going to get better from here ad the swelling subsides. I've read that it takes 6 months to recover. Thanks so much for your posts and photos-they've really helped me get the courage to book a consult with Dr. Ladak.

I love your results! You look amazing! I hope you are continuing to heal well! I want to be honest. Your profile snagged me because you said you lost all that weight and still looked in the mirror and saw a fat girl. It touched me because the whole body image thing is something I have read a lot about and am intrigued with. I have never been real overweight but have always been a curvy girl. I am 56 now but I remember being a young girl, looking in the mirror and wanting to be like my best friend who was 5'-9" and slender. I saw fat when I looked at myself. Years later, i pulled out photos and saw that I was not fat but misguided and out of reality. It taught me something. I had 6 children, who are grown now for the most part, and since then, I have learned to look in the mirror and actually appreciate what I see. That took a lot of years and soul searching. However, I could see that excess stretched skin could improve my appearance. It took 15 years for me to decide to get my surgery because I was so conflicted on whether to just appreciate what I was and accept myself or try to improve. I waited and waited and I finally got to a point of acceptance in a sense. There was a part of me that actually had some grief with parting with my former body. That probably sounds crazy! Monday will be three weeks and I am very happy I decided to do it. I look more like my former self, nice and CURVY! I plan on enjoying every curve! Anyway, sorry this is so long but I wanted to share and encourage you because I honestly think your shape is precious! You are going to look wonderful when the healing is done!
