I am 22 years old and I have always had a problem with my nose ever since I broke it when I was 12. This huge bump formed and never went away. Not only did I have that but the breathing out of my left side has become so restricted that I finally had enough and decided I needed to do something about it. When I was 18 I had a little surgery done to try and repair the blockage that provided a little change but nothing anyone even noticed and my breathing was fine for a bit and then it became restricted once again and twice as worse. That was my fault for not researching and being clear on my goals and just being naive to a surgeon. This time is different, I feel like the time is right and I can really prepare myself for what is ahead. I would really love the support of you guys during this time as some people who do know just don't understand and are not for it and I feel that it has been more of an uphill battle against them to get here then the actual surgery itself! I will try to post as much as I can! My doctor was professional and straight to the point, he didn't tell me anything I wanted to hear just the truth and spent lots of time explains and going through what would happen and my outcome. He was very blunt and even called my nose manly at one point but I'd rather have him then a kiss up. The staff there have been amazing and really have been helping me every step of the way!

Welcome to RealSelf. We're so glad you're here! Your nose definitely doesn't look manly in your photos. I'm sorry you're not breathing well. That is a serious drag. You're beautiful now and I hope your results are fantastic. Please keep us posted!

If anyone can comment on their experience with ope rhinoplasty that would be very helpful... How much did you swell? how did you help the swelling go down? I am back to work 19 days post op. Thank you!

i don't see anything wrong with your nose!

honestly to me your nose looks great already but if you can't breathe than that's no good! I don't agree that your nose is manly though... anyway... I just had my open rhino yesterday and my experience so far is that it's pretty easy. way easier than I expected a surgery to be! the hardest part was waiting to be called in to the operating room ;). read my review if you want.. it's pretty detailed :)

I have to agree with everyone else, I think your nose is adorable! But, being that I can't breathe out of my nose right now, I completely understand your frustration with that and perhaps your nose just photographs well, so maybe we can't see what you see. Anyway, you are gorgeous! I hope you get the results you are looking for!

Hey guys, I ended up having some issues that caused me to reschedule my surfer a few months later to this morning.

I am about 7 hours post op and honestly feel fantastic. I was dizzy when I came to and needed some medicine but I've since been realsed and had a nap and have major swelling on my nose and under eyes but no bruising so far.. So fingers crossed!!

I will keep you guys updated and post pictures :)

Hey drink lots of water throughout the night... I kept a water bottle in bed and would pop the top and sip it, then go back to sleep... :) this is a MUST. I developed complications in my throat due to too much mouth breathing... which dried me out. Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you.
