Had a consultation with Dr. Taher on May 19 regarding some self inflicted scarring on my forearm. He recommended doing fraxel laser to improve their appearance, quoting 450 a treatment and expecting between 3-4 treatments to be sufficient. He was non-judgmental about it, letting me know he has helped people with the same issue in the past. I am very excited to get my first treatment which I booked for May 24.

Keep us updated on your progress! I had pulsed dye laser for my self-harm scars that helped greatly to remove the red color of my scars. I had considered fraxel for my arm but never pursued it. The doctor seemed to think it would make minor improvements for my scars in my particular case. I am hoping to see your photos as your treatments go on. BEST OF LUCK and keep your head up!!! :)

Thank you for sharing this :) I have similar self harm scars and i am considering fraxel laser. Do you think it was worth it and do you plan on going back?

yes I think it’s worth it and I am planning to go another time or two

Is there a limit to how many times you can go? is there an expected # of times in which you wouldn't see results anymore?

Had my first treatment done about 30 minutes ago. I must have heard wrong because instead of 450, I paid 250. Which made me very happy obviously. Prior to the procedure they used topical numbing cream for about 40 minutes. Despite this, the procedure still hurt, especially on the thinner skin. But the pain was bearable, and towards the end I could tolerate it a lot more. The actual lasering didn't take long, maybe 10-15 minutes. Currently my arm looks a bit red, like a sunburn. The pain is decreasing as well. I've been applying ice as recommended. Haven't taken any pain killers.

I'm so glad I found this. I'm getting fraxel laser on my self harm scars 6/22. I'm pretty excited to not have to cover up my arms all the time. Thank you for sharing.

The pain is gone, and the redness is still there but is slowly decreasing. The area has become itchy but I've been avoiding scratching it as instructed.
