35 Yrs Old, Removing 11 Year Old Implants with Lift

I have had 360cc silicone under muscle implants for 11 years. I breastfed 2 babies and has left them a bit droopy, also one has ruptured so time to get them out. I am opting for a lift as well as I feel they could use a lift even with the implants in. The left one has ruptured(confirmed by ultrasound) and it burns and aches off and on. I am scheduled on April 11,2018 for total Capsulectomy and full anchor lift with drains with Dr. LISA KORUS in Edmonton, Alberta. I am a bit worried how they’ll look/size afterwards as I was A/B prior to augmentation but that was quite some time ago so I’m sure things have changed. Sorry the photos are upside down/sideways.

Good luck. I am only 10 days post op., so still deciding if it was worth it only because I can't wait till I get the tape and drains out.

Thanks for the encouragement! Wishing you a speedy recovery as well, it can be a long haul as it takes so long to see the final result. I had a look at your post, wow, 28 years and no issues, that’s pretty phenomenal.

Your’e not planning on putting in more implants?
March 14, 2018
No, I’ve had enough of them.

Thank you for this post, I am a looking to get an extract and have to wait 6 months for a consult. Both implants have ruptured and I have concerns of health issues. How long did it take for your consultation?
March 18, 2018
It was a 2 month wait I think. When I went to book the surgery it was only about a 5 week wait. Have you tried more than one surgeon? You might have to shop around a bit or go to a different city maybe. I am also concerned about health issues with a rupture, I’m not even sure how long mine has been ruptured as this was the first ultrasound I’ve had since having them placed and my breast has been sore for quite some time.

I would have thought that after looking at my mri, they would have attempted to get me in ASAP. It makes me wonder if they hope I find a different doctor. My implants are 40 years old, and I expect a mess in there. It’s very difficult to find or know of a good ps that has done many of these surgeries. A waiting time of 6 months for a consult seems crazy. I found this forum after much time surfing the net, and hoped I would hear of a great surgeon in Edmonton I could call for a consult that would be less than 6 months.

You could ask to be on the waiting list if someone cancels. I know I called three surgeon offices in Edmonton, one was a 6 month wait, one wasn’t accepting explant patients at the time and there was a cancellation with Dr KORUS is why I got in. I had a consult with her and liked her so booked with her.

Were you a referral from your doctor or did you book yourself? I know at the office they told me anything covered by AHS was a 6 month wait (such as reconstruction after cancer or breast reduction due to back issues etc) and elective surgeries were about a 2 month wait.

I’ve found having a rupture doesn’t seem to expedite anything
March 18, 2018
My doctor referred me, and thanks for the suggestion of calling them to put me on a cancellation list. It seems strange they may bump patience that could be covered by AHS, as they are getting paid. Could be there is a set rate they pay, and the PS can't charge an extra amount for the procedure, therefore they are not making that extra money. I'm really not sure, just theorizing. I would be grateful to know how your surgery goes, and wish you a quick recovery.

Yes, it is strange, I don’t know the exact reason either. I will update as soon as I’m up to it after surgery. Thanks:)

Well, I thought I would be feeling better than I am. After I woke up from the anesthetic I was very nauseated and ended up vomiting. I was sick to my stomach the remainder of the day and finally in the evening was able to eat some soup. The first day post-op my pain was probably the worst, not so much to my breasts but to my ribs on my sides under my armpits. It felt like someone kicked me, there is also a bit of swelling in that area. Since then the pain has gradually been getting better, today is the first day I haven’t taken any prescription pain medication. I am on antibiotics for a week. My drains have to stay in until they drain less than 30 mls in 24 hrs for 2 days in row. I am still very tired and need to take naps. I have had some muscle spasms to my chest and arms but that seems to be improving as well. Overall I think the recovery is harder than when I got the implants in. I’m also almost 11 years older so I’m sure that doesn’t help either. I’m not sure of the exact length of my surgery but I think between 2 and 2 1/2 hrs. Also the roof of my mouth and my throat were very sore from the breathing tube but that also is improving. I will post pictures without my bra once the drains are out.

I had my explant surgery the same day as yours, but not a lift. I Had one 10 years ago during implant surgery. I hope that your pain is better now. Even though my surgery was less time consuming and complicated this time around, I have been very tired while healing. We just have to remember we just had surgery and our bodies are working overtime to heal. Take care!

I had my drains removed 3 days ago, it’s much more comfortable without them. I’m not taking anything for pain anymore but am still stiff and sore in my chest muscles. My breasts themselves aren’t sore except for occasional mild burning on my incisions. I have a rash where the loops of the drains were attached to my bra, maybe a bit allergic to the plastic. The drain sites seem to be healing well, you can see them in the side profile pictures. I have an appt with Dr KORUS on the 24th, she’ll remove the surgical tape then if it hasn’t already fallen off. From what I can remember my breasts look very similar to how they did prior to augmentation. I’m hoping they don’t shrink any, they don’t feel swollen but maybe they are.
