Had the sleeve surgery almost a month ago, had my ups and downs for sure! I am approaching week 4 and for the last two weeks I have stayed the same weight...help I am frustrated and thinking maybe this was a mistake...not that I can go back but only loosing 20 lbs was not my goal...

I eat every 2 hrs a snack or a meal, I do feel hungry

is anyone experiencing these same issues?

Dr Billing office and staff are wonderful and so helpful and supportive if you are considering this surgery this is the place to go!

Hi again! It's your surgery buddy Donna. You are doing great! Just give your body a few more weeks to adjust. I am down only 15 lbs so you're ahead of me! :) I think the more liquid we can get I , the quicker the weight will come off. For a couple days, I wasn't able to get more then about 30oz in. On those days, I felt tired, hungry and just not good. It seems as long as I can get 45 or more oz in, I feel great. I have to see Dr Billing early, next Monday (12/14) because of extreme tiredness after eating. I mean, I'll be lucky to lay down before I fall down sleepy. It's a lot better now, but the first few days of starting puréed, it was horrible. I would have to sleep for 1-2 hours every time I ate something. Itight be my thyroid since I had half removed a few years ago. Anyway, all is good and I know we will both do great! Hope to see you again!

well first I am so glad I found you...really was literally searching for all this time! I love having a surgery buddy! I am happy to hear (even if it is hard for each of us) that we both are in the same boat of it coming off and stalling a bit. I am encouraged now that I need to give it time. Man that tired stuff sounds awful I hope dr can give you some answers and help? I am finally able to get in some water yesterday was my first day getting in over 80oz but I was really pushing myself....I have not found a protein drink I like but I haven't tried that hard lol...every meal I have protein that is what my phone call was all about. Tuesday are my first follow up appointments so we will go over my food journal and see if I am getting enough protein...I start regular diet on Tuesday and I can not WAIT....I have a underactive thyroid as well but never had it removed or partially just meds....I am praying for you to feel better and both of us to be on a full recover soon! Thanks for being here for me! Keep me posted on your well being!

I tried a bunch of protein drinks. I'm allergic to whey so that really limited me. Finally I found EAS Soy protein at Walmart. The vanilla and chocolate both work for me. I mix the vanilla with Bolthouse smoothies, like the strawberry banana. The chocolate I put in with Soy milk or I mix the chocolate and vanilla together and it's a little more mild. Almond milk is ok too but sometimes too thick.
The tired thing has gotten better and seems to be better every day. Are you journaling on paper or use an app? I'm using an app called Baritastic. I really like it. Pretty easy to use and has recipes and stuff. Too bad our appts aren't on the same day! I will be doing the rest of my follow up in the Southend - Puyallup. It's south closer to my home. I'm glad you are feeling better about the stall. I'm sure it will pass for both of us!
December 9, 2015
I am just jotting it down in a memo on my phone...but I am going to look into that app thanks for the heads up! Glad you are feeling better, it was a lot harder surgery than I thought it was going to be I have had a C-section and gallbladder removed so thought I knew what I was getting into...NOT. Maybe in a few months when we have lost more we can meet up and reveal our changes...I am looking forward to some shopping in the regular ladies department!

How did your post op go?
December 17, 2015
Hey Donna, went ok I am only getting in about half (30grams) of protein a day when I need 60-80 a day and more calories. So we discussed in length how to get that done in a day. I am able to eat what ever now just listen to my body lol. Still trying to get all the 60 oz or more liquid in so all in all went ok but still have some work to do.
how did yours go?
December 17, 2015
Ok. I'm in the same situation... Not getting enough protein working on the fluid. I didn't get to see the nutritionist because she went home sick. Any suggestions on getting the protein in? Lol I'm still drinking at least one - sometimes two protein shakes. I am using pedialyte powder packs (1tube/20 oz water) and really like that for adding flavor to water. I never used artificial sweeteners before surgery and hate that I'm using so much of it now. The pedialyte has dextrose, but not enough to be concerned about using one of two a day. I'm eating rice right now for the first
time. It's so good! I've missed it! Did fitness ask you about doing a bod pod? I had one before surgery, doing it again will tell me if I've lost muscle mass. I think I'll do it next month. So keep up the good work! It's a daily thing. I was never so disciplined about food/work! I've had only 1 day that I just didn't do any of it. No regrets - but that day I was sick of it all. I think I drank like 20 oz of water and no shakes or anything lol I paid for it next day though.... felt pretty bad. Won't do that again!
December 17, 2015
Yes, some suggestions are pure protein bars or think skinny bars both have a 20g of protein in each bar. I don't drink any protein shakes I just cant stand them...she also gave me a milk that is sold at Walmart and winco that has like 13g of protein in each cup if you like milk it is called fairlife milk. Also she told me to try almond butter on apples etc.. instead of peanut butter as it is higher in protein and to add unflavored protein powder to milk or anything else when I can. I got in 68 grams yesterday so that was good those bars really help. I also have the isopure drinks on hand and they are 40grams of protein and I drink half a one some days not every day if I need help. Quinoa was another suggestion.
Yes fitness said to do a bod pod I will do mine in about a month as well to see how I am doing. How much weight have you lost so far?
Also, adding skinny girl or mio to your water will help get it down just for something different tasting it does me anyway ;)
Sounds like you are doing GREAT sorry you had a bad day, but we will have our ups and downs. I am just hoping the eating becomes not such a chore to think about you know...I can have ice tea now with stevia cant wait! are you on full diet now?
December 18, 2015
Yes, I'm on regular diet now. I am allergic to whey so can't use any of the pure protein or Isopure or milk products. I rely mostly on soy and almond milk products. And vegan protein powders. Yes, adding flavoring to water makes a huge difference! So much better. I don't weigh at home. Never have. At my appointment on Monday I had lost a total of 25lbs. But that includes the weight lost before surgery too. I feel like I should have list more by now, but trying to stay positive about it. The good thing is that since I haven't told anyone I had the surgery, the more gradual loss will prevent a lot of questions. I'm feeling great and so happy I'm just not worried about it!

Hi there, sorry long time no talk. How did Christmas go for you? How have you been doing? I am still on the struggle with my liquid in take but trying every day lol lost about 30 pounds so far but definitely not from my stomach...not sure why I still fit into most of my clothes but I do...got a fitbit for Christmas so I am going to start walking more and more I hope but still have energy issues I will just have to push threw. I hope you are doing well Happy New Year to the new you!
December 31, 2015
Hi! Was just thinking last night that I needed took in and catch up with you. Christmas was wonderful and as for managing food/eating and all that, it was easy. I had my 'one month' nutritional appt yesterday. It was late because that had one of their dietician leave and they cancelled my original 1 month. Anyway, I'm still tracking my intake using Baritastic app. I average 500 calories and they want me to get to 800. I still only average about 40oz of fluids a day, so I'm really pushing fluids. Mostly because of the constipation - lol. Overall, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm down about 30# too since surgery weight. Seems I've lost a lot in my face and boobs! I did have to buy new pants 1 size smaller. I wanted to lose slowly so it wouldn't be a drastic change, but I have to admit sometimes I'm impatient and wish I could see faster results. Since surgery, I've been having a problem with getting really sleepy after I eat. They think I need to eat a little every few hours so I set reminders on my phone. I seldom fell hungry until I realize I feel cruddy from not eating. I hope by eating every three hours that will stop. Ok, guess I've rambled on long enough. Good to hear from you!

Happy new year and new you...how have you been. What's new? Hey do you belong to the facebook group that is secret that is from our doctors office? if not you should lots of great advice and things people say in there. I have just started little exercises and walking still only down about 30 pounds so that's that I guess...no new miracles except I am finding that I need to remind myself to chew chew chew which is so hard I get bored with food in my mouth to long lol
I hope you are doing well
January 7, 2016
No I didn't know about the FB page. What is it called? I am also down only about 30 lbs. does that mean that's all the initial benefit we get?
January 7, 2016
https://www.facebook.com/groups/PSBLink/

that is the link to their page you have to request to be their friend and then they will accept you. look me up on facebook too I would love to be friends I am Kelly Wilkinson McLean or I can look you up. Hey you ever hear any word from our other surgery buddy the English one?
Yeah I am REALLY hoping this is not the only benefit of this surgery our 30 pounds...that would be non sensical lol have you begun exercising and if so how is that going?
January 17, 2016
Hi! I find this site a little hard to post and recurve messages! I can't get to the private FB page you sent me. I'm going to try again today. I am rarely on FB but I think I need the support. still have not shared with any of my family that I had the surgery. My daughter, you and two friends are all that know outside of the medical team. I'm having some frustrations. I'm tracking all my intake and staying under all the goals and still am stuck at the same weight! It is very frustrating. How are things going for you?
January 18, 2016
If you tell me how to find you on Facebook I can invite you to the group that might be easier but it was on one of our papers in our many binder papers maybe you can find it there?
Yes, I too have been stuck at the same weight for probably 3 weeks or so been at 30 pounds down and not moving from there.
Started a bit of exercising to see if that will get some results but staying under all the numbers so not sure why at a stall.
The Facebook site is good cause all kinds of levels from just had surgery to 6 years out so can get support from all ranges or ask ? I go in on Tuesday for my next follow ups and do a bod pod so will see how that goes...seems like I had the same concerns last time...at a stall need help??lol
Well always here if and when you need to chat praying for both our stalls to be lifted soon!
January 31, 2016
Hi! How did your follow up visit go? I have been having some problems. I have to have an upper GI scope on 2/12. The heartburn us relentless. Better now that I'm on Prilosec but they think I may have a stricture or other problem in my esophogas. I'm still at about 32 lbs down. I need to start exercising but for the past 2 1:2 - 3 end have been in such discomfort it's been all I can do to work and just keep up. I'm still glad I had the surgery and Dr. Stewart said snythjng thatight be causing the heartburn and pain is correctable. I hope you are not experiencing any issues. I have not been on FB recently and since I have not made my surgery known to family/friends, I don't want to have any info on FB about my surgery. I'm heading to Nashville with family for vacation and my niece to visit Belmont University. I'm looking forward to some fun down there! Take care and I'd love to know how your bod pod and visit went!
January 31, 2016
Oh I am sorry to read about your heartburn. Man I will pray that will get better with meds and/or simple fix. I am down 35 ish but it takes a long time to go down one pound is hard to achieve lol my bodpod results basically said I have lost over 50% of my muscle mass which is excessive so they just told me to keep up on my protein which I thought I was ;) I am going to start an exercising class tomorrow with my friend so we will see how I do...I still eat certain things that don't agree with me I just had half a hamburger and paid for it and pasta and I still don't agree. So hoping that will eventually even out...Your trip sounds like fun. My son graduates highschool in June and we are planning to go to the Bahamas I can not tell you how excited I am to go a bit smaller than usual...no bikini but atleast in smaller clothes lol. how did your bodpod go? Take care of yourself keep in touch.

I decided after 18 years of being overweight and yo-yo dieting to have sleeve surgery. I have two friends that have had it and been successful. The only thing I was nervous about was being on liquid for so long...would I be in a fetal position crying for food? Surgery day came and went along with a hernia repair. I did not experience any incision pain until about week 2 then my largest incision starting burning, which I was told was part of the healing process. I did experience severe shoulder pain which was from my hernia repair and being in bed/sitting so much. I had to see the doctor a few days early as I was really weak and not doing well with the shoulder pain. Was told I needed to drink more, like it or not. Finally by the weekend (my surgery was on a Monday) I was feeling a bit better. It took me over 2 weeks to get some energy back and start getting around and back to my part time job. Still struggle with getting the volume of liquid in they want but day by day it gets better and better. Constipation has set in, caused my large incision to hurt again, need to be on myrolax now...lesson learned!
I began this journey at 220 5'6" day of surgery I was 213 today I am 192 and have been for about two weeks so I am very discouraged with being stalled in my weight loss. Did I do all this for 20 pounds?
