I'm still in the process of my invisalign and so far I'm loving it and hating it!
Pros:
Great oral hygiene
Removal for dates, & special occasions
Can eat popcorn, sticky foods & candy
Barely noticeable (people are shocked when they tell them I have them on)
Simple to clean

Cons:
Eating/drinking randomly is nearly impossible feeling
Always have to rinse or brush after meals/drinks
Pain every 2 weeks (mild) compared to every 6 weeks
Can give you cuts/sores from sharp plastic (use a nail file to remove sharp edges)

It's hard to say yes or no to which braces you want...I think its all on PERSONAL preference I got mine because I didn't want the look of metal mouth at my age but wanted straight teeth. When I first got them on I was like OMG I made the biggest mistake getting these, because they made my mouth feel so full! Not to mention my tongue got stuck making my speech off a tiny bit the first two days. The sores were annoying too, my tongue was very cut up after the first 3 days where I didn't even feel like eating but after that it was like whatever I don't mind them anymore.

The buttons everyone talks about aren't that bad either, they blend with your teeth really well and if you're lucky like me they might not even be that many or in the front! Mine are mainly in the back of my teeth aside from two which honestly I don't even notice much...the whole IPR part isn't terrible sounding either most people get a mm or so shaved off there lower teeth with crowding which is what I will be getting done too so its not like your teeth will look different or weird.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my choice on getting them its caused me to have much better oral hygiene than I did before and I feel like I'm not even wearing them most of the time...My one thing that was hard in the beginning was eating/drinking randomly...I like to go out and about drinking a coffee or having a pastry here and there and it was so difficult if there wasn't a bathroom to brush in or if I wanted to sample something it was a pain to remove them and put them back in...now I'm so used to switching my trays every 2 weeks I just pull them out eat whatever and than swish water in my mouth if I don't have access to cleaning (which I rarely do) and than put the trays back in and my teeth never look yellow or gross. I than floss and brush before bed to make sure all the sugars are removed.

YES your trays will turn in color a little if you don't brush after EVERY MEAL/DRINK but its usually in the back molars (thats where I noticed mine turning a tiny yellow) but just make sure your brush and floss each night and your good to go!

I love that I can also take these out for a nice date :) also they don't really show in pictures so don't feel like you have to remove them for a photo!

As far as toothpaste I switch between cavity toothpaste and whitening toothpaste both work great and seem to make my teeth pretty and clean! :) You can also use whitening gel in the trays but I prefer not to just because of my buttons and because the bleach sometimes burns my gums so I vote no for myself on that stuff.

Make sure you discuss your options with your orthodontist on what is right for YOU just because invisalign works for me doesn't mean you'll like it too but at the same time you may LOVE it!

I hope this helps anyone thats trying to decide :)

P.S. SORRY FOR THE LACK OF PHOTOS I HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY YET! :)

I love this orthodontist office! It's my second round of treatment here and everyone on their staff is amazing! They remember who you are, acknowledge you on the board when you come in, give you free prizes for good visits, and are just sweet girls! I would recommend this place to everyone!

Hi, and thank you for starting your story here!  I look forward to seeing pictures, but for now, why are you on your second round of treatment?  What happened to the first round? :)

You're welcome! I'll try and add photos soon! :) Well the first time I got regular metal braces and wore them two years. After they were taken off I got removable retainers for the top and bottom (I don't advise this). I kept having to get them resized because my teeth were always so sore! Turns out I had 4 very impacted wisdom teeth that needed to be removed since they kept pushing my teeth forward causing them to crowd again! I definitely suggest people double check with their dentist before braces to ensure they don't have any issues that will arise after the removal of braces :) saves time & money!

Huh!  I have four impacted wisdom teeth too.  But I'm a chicken and don't want to do oral surgery :(.  Mommy makeover?  Sure!  Oral surgery? *runs screaming from the room*.  How did the wisdom teeth removal go for you?

And thanks for the pictures!

Hahaha! It's surprisingly not that bad! When I got it done I woke up and was like thats it?! It seemed really fast...the recovery was basically just eating mushy soft foods or liquids and than of course I swelled up in the face like a chipmunk (this doesn't happen to everyone) and took lots of pain medication which I didn't even need I just took it so pain wouldn't onset!! I got my tonsils out a year later and that was WAY worse than wisdom teeth I'd never wanna go through that surgery again or wish it upon anyone...I've had a total of 3 surgeries removing 10 teeth total and honestly I don't think any of them were too bad. So you'll be good to go :) just make sure that you actually need them removed too, some people can go their whole lives with impacted wisdom teeth and they never cause a fuss...my boyfriends mom went until her early 40's I believe until she needed hers out. I'll have to find out why she got hers out so much later down the road :) You're welcome! Hope they helped! :) I can't wait for my teeth to be straight! :)

I'm almost 39, and only two of mine have bothered trying to come out.  But I get pain in some of the others sometimes, like they're trying.  The ones that have started coming out are impossible to clean, though, and they're touching the neighboring molars, which means I have an increased risk of decay in those teeth.  The dentist can't even clean in there.  So that's why I need to have them out. :(

But your comment makes me feel better.  The swelling in the face thing--I always thought it equated to terrible pain.  But I didn't know anything about pain meds back then.  Still, even after my TT, when I was on pain meds, the pain was overwhelming.  I'm kind of scared of having that pain in my face, and then having to deal with my kids and all.  But like I said, I think you've given me the courage I've been looking for.

Now I need to find an oral surgeon…and save up money!

Oh ya, if yours are starting to come in already and you aren't able to clean them its definitely time to say bye bye to those wisdom teeth! I went through dental assisting school and saw someone get theirs out and it actually wasn't that bad to see done either! It looks overwhelming when you see people who have had it done and especially if people tell you "horror" stories but you'll thank yourself after your all healed for doing it! That way you have no worries about tooth decay because its a lot worse when your actually having to get implants to replace rotted teeth than it is to remove the teeth causing the issue in the first place! I'm happy I was able to ease your worries a bit :) definitely start saving and find a trustworthy surgeon in your area, your pain meds will help keep the kids at bay too :) the afterward pain is temporary so just remember that and stick with soft foods and nothing too hot or too cold! :)

Thanks for sharing I start my second tray on Mon the 24th of Mar. I'm excited I still have a long road a head but I'm excited to finally change trays. The random eating is definitely a challenge. I do find those wisps come in very handy. I have a little Ziploc travel bag where I carry my cleaning supplies.

Sorry for the delayed response! Thats awesome your onto your second tray already by now your probably going onto the third! I just put my 5th tray on today! Loving it! Almost zero pain they fit perfect! I can't wait till I see results, invisalign takes so much longer than traditional braces to show any movement! Glad you carry around your supplies to clean :) my job makes it very difficult to clean inbetween eating so I make sure to brush and floss good at the end of the day to prevent any issues :)
