I'm 51 yrs old, short (5ft), 133lbs and relatively fit. I work out a few days a week and walk everyday. I've never been heavy, but have noticed my weight going up slightly and stubborn pockets of fat (abdomen, waist, inner thighs, back and knees) that haven't responded to physical activity (cardio and strength training). I decided more than a year ago to look into plastic surgery to contour my body by tackling these areas.

I spent several months researching procedures, risks, results, doctors, costs, outcomes, pics, etc. I ultimately decided on multiple area liposuction.

After the decision, I researched plastic surgeons (backgrounds, education, medical certifications, etc.) and narrowed it down to 3. After meeting with them, I choose the one who I was most comfortable with, who I felt answered my questions thoroughly and understood the results I was looking to achieve.

I tried to imagine what my new body would look like. I knew I wanted the body I had before having my last child 16 years ago. I couldn't wait for the procedure!!

I met with the doctor and his team prior to the surgery. The doctor took pics and marked the areas of my body that he'd work on. Because I was having mutilple areas done, I was given general anesthesia.

I never expected the amount of pain I felt when I came out of the anesthesia. It was horrible. I was so swollen and very bruised from my chest to my knees. I could barely walk so my oldest helped me to move around, but I fainted when I tried to stand after using the bathroom. I spent 10 days sleeping on my couch because I couldn't lift my legs to get onto my bed. I needed a cane to get around my home. I'd originally planned to be home for one week, took a second week, but could've used a third. I saw the doctor after 10 days and was still pretty swollen and in ALOT of pain. I think having 5 areas done isn't typical and my recovery took longer as a result.

Some change was visible very early...namely my waist and abdomen. But others took longer. I am almost 4 months post-op and I LOVE what I see!! My body has the basic contour, look I wanted and I'm down a few (5) pounds. Although I still have some swelling, bruising (mainly inner thighs) and pain (abdomen), overall I feel great! My doctor assures me that the swelling will continue to reduce over the next few months.

It has been a long road for sure ....definitely more pain and recovery time than I anticipated. I probably wouldn't do something this extensive again, but I am happy I did it. I feel more confident than I have in the last few years! My body now matches what I've been putting into my workouts!!
