Two weeks post op

WORTH IT$6,000
Well that's two weeks past now. I have gone through all my clothes and threw half of them out! Gosh I had so many frumpy tops bought to hide a multitude of sins! Lots of things still fitting but just sit they way they should now - it has been liberating! I have another one week off before I go back to work. I haven't made it common knowledge that I was getting a breast reduction and was a little apprehensive about what to wear so as not to draw attention to the change! I am now used to my new look so I feel so what- I will wear whatever I want. no one will probably ask me to my face anyhow!???? I have uploaded a couple of photos. Things are healing well, and I go back to get dressings changed and stitches out on Thursday. I still feel a little tender at times but perfectly manageable. So pleased I did this!

Hope you are progressing well and all is good after the stitches have been removed.

Hi things are going well thanks. I got it wrong they didn't take any stitches out, as they are all dissolvable but they took tape off and cleaned everything up. It's all looking good and I have to use my bio oil for two weeks and then put on the silicon sheets the nurse provided for me. I got a couple of non wire bras a d cup. So I still have boobs, but in proportion with the rest of me. I will post some new pictures soon. Thanks for asking. Back to work on Tuesday. - I have. Enjoyed my time off don't want to go back! How is your journey progressing.

So pleased you are doing well, you look great. I was due to go in on 3rd Sept but it was changed to 9 th but that was good as I went into a bit of a meltdown and it gave me an opportunity for another meet up with my consultant who is fantastic. Hope I look as good as you after my surgery. Good luck with your continuing progress x

Hi going back to work was fine. Three weeks off seemed an ideal amount of time off for me. Everything going well. I seem to get a bit tender by bed time still but otherwise ok. I am putting the bio oil on now have an inflamed bit on my right breast don't know if the oil is doing this. I am hoping to speak to someon at spire tomorrow to get their opinion. I will start to use my silicon gel sheets next week hopefully. That is 4 weeks post op now. Time is passing quickly. If anyone at work noticed they didn't let on. But I had always covered the boobs up well before so as not to draw attention I still have a about a d cup. So still have a bust but very much in proportion to myself. Everything just hangs so much better now. I even bought a dress at the weekend and before my boobs would not have fitted in without that squashed effect. So well chuffed! Just need to lose a few pounds around my middle now! Mr Anderson is very nice I did see him at my last nurse visit and he seemed happy with the results. Good luck with yours. What is your dat for surgery. I am so interested to hear about your experience.

Sounds like you are progressing well - hope you are pleased with the new size - I definitely want to be a B cup so am hoping this will be possible - my op is in 4 weeks although I am still awaiting confirmation from Spire. Could not get op any earlier - Spire would appear to be very busy. I am at the stage i just want it over and done with - the next four weeks will pass very slowly! I am worried about the size but shall keep my fingers crossed that the result is good. Hope you keep progressing and are still pleased with the results.

I went back to clinic today to get my dressings looked at. Nurse reckoned I was back too soon but she took off the bulk of the dressing. I still have tape underneath and on nipples. This has been the first day without painkillers, which is good. However, I have had a very low energy day and had to pop back to bed for a nap a couple of times. Things are getting very itchy now Any suggestions to combat this would be gratefully received. I have bio oil to put on but at five days I think this mAy be too early to do this.

I am also looking at breast reduction with Spire but am unsure how to chose a surgeon - how did you choose your surgeon? Still unsure if I am doing the right thing - a little scared!

I had looked up the internet to see which surgeons were appropriate. I had come across an organisation called quaba which consists of three plastic surgeons. They have been established for a good number of years. They do their private work in conjunction with spire They stood out above the others in my mind, then I happened to have a conversation with the girl who I regularly go to for back massages. She out if the blue mentioned this organisation of plastic surgeons. They had an excellent reputation by all accounts. I contacted quaba who were so professional from the beginning, pleasant professional and discreet. I asked the person I spoke to who of the three was better placed to do my surgery. She of course said all three were excellent. However I had tried to find out all I could from internet ROTC and decided me Anderson stood out to me. He works for Lothian nhs and also does private work with quaba He is renowned for reconstruction work from mastectomy. I had also been told that his work was amazing from someone who had undergone mastectomy surgery with him and they were amazed by the condition of their scars. It just seemed to fall into place for me, I went for a consultation with him and had no doubts he was the right surgeon for me. I would say do your research if possible get first hand accounts. Once you are confident about your surgeon. Go for it, don't waste time. My experience is the worry and anxiety us far worse than the reality. I am 8 days post op. Feel tender at timex and still not overdoing it but can't believe how good I feel. Hope all goes well for you and I would I've to hear your decision in the end. Good luck

Got out from hospital a day early because things had gone well. I am on day three now and other than feeling a bit bashed and bruised coping really well. I am keeping up the medication regularly. I have one wee nippy bit on my right side but think it is a stitch or staple in a bit tight. Nothing unbearable though. I still have to move my bowels ( sorry folks). But taking laxative and hoping for the best. I had a shallow bath today as determined to keep dressings totally dry. I go for a check up on Thursday and get my dressings changed. So will keep you posted then. They are looking good - so pleased! Apologies for photos. They keep going upside down

You look great already! Hope your getting plenty of rest and fluids. How does the netting feel? I have never seen it used over here in the States but it does look as if it would give more support and comfort. I am still awaiting approval/non approval from my insurance.
August 15, 2016
Thankyou. I have taken three weeks off work and I am enjoying resting and being looked after by my family. The netting feels comfortable and I also have not had any drains which I believe is a bonus. Dressing gets changed on Thursday. So will be able to update further then.

I too am scheduled for the spire in cheshire on 3rd September with Mr lambe. I am very nervous and up and down as to wether im doing the right thing. I'm 102lbs 5ft and wear 30f bra. I've gone up 2 cup sizes since the menopause and they hang so low! My surgeon has told me I can go to a full c or small d, not sure what that means but still seems 'big' to the rest of me! I think you look fab and I'm taking heart from the fact that you had yours done at the spire. Good luck with the rest of your recovery
August 15, 2016
I can only say good things about the spire. They will take you frame into consideration so try and not worry and trust your surgeons judgement. My surgeon was initially going to take more off than he did but after assessing my frame he changed his view. So far very happy. So good luck when your turn comes.

Hi I'm from Glasgow and getting br in September I am terrified I keep asking myself if I'm doing the right thing I'm a 36gg and I'm expected to go to a D cup I'm really afraid of waking up in terrible pain did that happen to you? Do you think three weeks will be enough time off for recovery? Sorry about the questions I just need some reassurance thanks and hope your healing is going well
August 17, 2016
Hi. I have taken three weeks off work and was told two would be enough but I felt the extra week would be beneficial. I have never felt terrible pain, when I first woke up my chest felt a bit tight and a feeling like sunburn. I have taken regular painkillers and at day four I still am taking them regularly. My pain has never been bad, one or two out of ten at the most . At day four I am feeling a wee bit bruised but nothing unmanageable at all. I am so pleased with my results. So try and not worry it will be worth it, and you will cope no problem. I am getting my dressings changed tomorrow so will update then. I hope this has helped. I can't wait until the time I can shop for lovely new clothes. Good luck and if I can help boost your confidence again just keep asking .
