Hello ladies, I'm hoping for some advice please. I had implants done in August 2006 under the muscle. I had breast fed my baby for 11 months and my breasts were non existent afterwards. Prior to pregnancy I had a b cup which was in proportion to my small frame. I never dreamed that I would have ever wanted big boobs but having been left with empty saggy ones I had a major confidence crisis.

My relationship with my husband wasn't great and I felt so low. I am now almost divorced, have an amazing man in my life and am all together in a much better place emotionally.

I hate my breasts and this past couple months have had a lot of pain in my left breast. I've been for a scan which gave me the all clear for cancer. The dr thought my body was rejecting the implant. I now want them removed. I'm going to the hospital I had them done at on 1st feb for a consultation with intent of booking date for removal in the next month.

I am slightly concerned what they are going to look like afterwards. Anyone else had a similar experience? I am looking forward to being natural again. I think my implants are around 300cc.

Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf! I would say that most ladies are concerned with how their breasts will look after explant. You can sort through the before and after photos and read other reviews as well to get an idea of what to expect.

Everyone's body is different and will react differently to implant removal. Also, many women report being much happier with their results after several months have passed.

Hi Chev, I think its a common to worry about what your breasts will look like after the implants are removed. If you are really concerned, perhaps talk to your surgeon about a lift as well, or maybe it would be better to wait a few months and see how they settle before making any decisions. Many people on here seem to be happy with how their breasts look a few months after surgery once the breasts have healed properly. I see from your profile that you are based in Edinburgh, can I ask what surgeon you are going with? I live in Edinburgh part of the time and am still searching for a recommended surgeon who isn't too expensive. I hope everything goes well with your surgery.

Hi Gillbot, thank you for your comments. Im going to see Mr Cameron Raine at Spire, Murrayfield on Friday of this week. Fingers crossed that he agrees to remove and quickly. My left breast is still causing me a lot of pain. Im so looking forward to being natural again. Im hoping to have another baby in the not too distant future and hope to breastfeed again so a lift at this stage would be pointless. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks

Hello ladies, I've been for my initial consultation and am now booked for reval on the 20th of this month:-)
What bra's have you worn afterwards for support/comfort. The surgeon is in no doubt that im going to have next to nothing in the boobie department but i feel that i'll have to provide some support.
Surgeon said that i'll not be happy with how they are going to look and it did put doubts in my mind for a few days but after being in pain since start of november and hiding them away all the time as they are far too big i think i'm doing the right thing.
I've asked to have it done under local anaesthetic to keep costs down. He's never done it under local before but is happy to do it.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks

Hi everyone. After 6 &1/2 years of implants they came out yesterday. I opted for local anaesthetic and I'm so glad. Travelled down to Edinburgh, 4 and a half hour journey. Then a 30 minute walk to hospital. Removal took about 40 minutes including chat and stitch up. It felt very bizarre, a little uncomfortable whilst he was releasing the implant from the adhered muscle but overall it was ok. Felt fine afterwards so walked back into town had a coffee with my mum then got the train home !
I've gone from having a 32DD to pretty much a flat chest. My partner is being super supportive and keeps re-assuring me that he's totally not bothered that they've disappeared but I'm a little nervous about showing him.
They've to be in a sports bra for the next month day & night. I'm lying in bed and its 1am in the morning and I just can't sleep. Maybe it's after the drugs? I'm fairly comfortable so it's not pain keeping me awake.
For anyone considering the local anaesthetic route I'd recommend it only if your not squeamish. I'm a vet nurse and we have a farm so am used to operations & such like. It drastically reduced the price which was a major bonus and meant I didn't have to spend anytime in hospital once it was done.
I'm so glad to be free of that horrible cold implants. I'm vexed I ever felt the need to get them. With age comes wisdom!!
I'm going to try and get some sleep now.
Night!
