Very Unhappy with Breast Augmentation! - Edina, MN

I am a mother of three children whom were all breast feed. Generally, I have been anywhere from a 34-36 A or B depending on life circumstances. I had always fantasized about having breast augmentation and was never very comfortable with my breasts other than their function to feed my kiddos. After breast feeding 3 children, my breast became less appealing...to even my bra. There was absolutely no density and the best way to describe them was like they were flaps of skin that laid in the area where breasts should be. I looked at various plastic surgeons in the area and ultimately decided to go with Dr. David Owen Smith in Edina. I am VERY unhappy with my decision and his job. He undercuts the exceptional...even good surgeons out there because he charges half of what they charge. I hate to admit it, but that caught my eye. I am very unhappy with his service, bedside manner and after care. Immediately after surgery I noticed there was some asymmetry with my breast. My left breast was higher in my chest than my left. Yet, the nipple of my left breast was about .5-1 inch lower than my right. Dr. David O Smith assured me that "they are not twins, rather consider them sisters" and they will release and settle at different times. Well I waited and waited and nothing ever changed. My left breast continues to lay higher than the right breast while my left nipple is much lower than my right. I called Dr. David O Smiths office multiple times to discuss this. I was always given some excuse that usually consisted of them telling me to just "ride it out" and that it would settle. Eventually I came in and Dr. David O Smith finally admitted to it being a capsular contracture. He continued to down play it and state that breasts are not completely symmetrical. During previous interactions I had asked about things I could do to help prevent or make worse a capsular contracture. I had heard anecdotes and read information on line. Specifically, "compression banding" was something I read about and brought up to Dr. Davis O smith. He continued to dismiss my concerns and told me that the implant was positioned under the muscle and that provided enough massage to help it move into place. Well, I saw my family practice MD at my physical and he observed the capsular contracture right away. He was able to help me come to terms with this and point me in the right direction for treatment.

Please put in some pictures in order to be able to offer more meaningful advice. Be very careful about treating your capsular contracture (if that's what it is) there is a lot of bad information out there on the internet.

What "right direction" for cc treatment? There is more bad advice out there than good. Check to see if there is a doctor in your area involved with the "Aspen" system. That system uses custom designed ultrasound to combat capsular contracture. In the first ever paper presented, I had an 86% improvement with Grade 2 and 3 capsular contractures.

I had my breasts done by Dr. Smith. I was going over reviews, yours stuck out to me so I had to read it. First off I am sorry for you. I got 350cc saline under muscle. They to me are wonderful! I was a 32a now 36c. Really changed how I feel about myself. He was awesome to me. Very professional. And made sure I knew how important after care is. If I had a worry he got me in next day and I live 4 hours from him. I am 9 weeks post op and finally can undress in front of my husband! I don't know what happened in your case but I hope everything turned out for you. there are far more positive remarks on Dr. Smith than negative. Every surgeon will have some unhappy patients. Good luck to you

I lost an implant due to this man and then he sat there blaming me that I bumped it. I got so depressed and gained 50lbs. Worst trauma and experience of my life and he didn't even feel bad or care.
