Help for Herpes Outbreak Lip Augmentation - Easton, PA

Perusing responses to another RS'ers procedure and happened upon someone having issues with lip problems after filler. Here's what I responded to her blog: "An FYI, had lip injections done a day or so after dental work last year. Always use Valtrex as get oral herpes outbreak since childhood with any trauma to lips, even sunshine. So didn't get a reaction to lip filler as Valtrex was in my system. Didn't even think about it actually. However, as the filler began to dissipate a few months down the road, had an awful reaction. Technician had no explanation, why months later, my lips would react. Think I figured it out. As the product was leaving my lips, well, it was a trauma of sorts. Had reaction for about 15 days, until took my emergency Valtrex, Cleared up in about a week. Scaly, blisters, uncomfortable. Now know (IF decide to go through lip injections again) to use Valtrex. There's lots of anecdotal info about people reacting to lip injections out there, but doctors and their staff are not addressing it up front, as they should. Notice none of the doctors that replied to you, mention the possibility of herpes outbreak. Which is ridiculous, as cosmetic/dermatology staff should always, always, ask their clients if they have had herpes in the past. Anyone who has oral herpes know the discomfort it can cause."
New Comment: Don't understand why sore cosmetic/derm/plastic surgeons' offices are not more up front about how your face/lips can react, if you have ever had oral herpes in the past. Unfortunately, the medical community, in general, still does not know enough about the problem, IMHO. Know Lysine works for some, but really, except for Valtrex, most possible solutions come from anecdotal accounts. There is the VERY expensive (for a tiny, tiny tube) OTC cream, but once the problem starts, for me at least, does not help that much.
Don't remember my mom or dad having it, but know I passed it onto my kids (always kissing them when they were little, so darn cute). And yes, they both eventually got it and would get flair-ups from time to time. It was a dentist about 15-20 years ago, after complaining always ended up with a breakout when my teeth cleaned, that send in a RX. So go to my local Walgreens, and as I'm waiting, thinking...Valtrex, Valtrex, why does that sound so familiar? Hmmm. Then remembered the TV commercials! So explained to pharmacist, who knew me, NOT USING FOR THAT REASON! Ha! Anyway, Valtrex is an amazing drug. No tingling of lips, no blisters. Sometimes I forget to take day before dental work, but as long as I take it that day, all is well. Hope this helps anyone out there who has same problem....
