Otoplasty with poor ear lobe position - angle looks unnatural

ORIGINAL POST

Otoplasty with Poor Ear Lobe Position

The attached photographs show the results of my 14 year old son’s otoplasty. The photographs are 4 weeks post operation. Unfortunately the plastic surgeon did not address the ear lobe angle/position during the otoplasty surgery. We questioned the surgeon before the operation specifically about ear lobes sticking out post operation and he dismissed our concerns stating that he did not anticipate any issues with the ear lobes. As you can see in the photographs, the angle/position looks unnatural in relation to the rest of the ear. We are soliciting feedback regarding the photographs and would like opinions on what procedure/technique might improve the ear lobe angle/position (V to Y, trimming cauda helicis). We are also requesting virtual consultations from board certified plastic surgeons who are experienced with this type of earlobe surgery who think the earlobe position can be improved. We are willing to travel anywhere in the US.

Did your son have a significant degree of ear deformity like microsia prior to surgery? I'm not an expert, but I feel like you should report this doctor to you state's medical board. I have never seen results like this from an ear-pinning procedure. The shape of the conchal bowl is highly unnatural—I'm more concerned by that than by the earlobes, but, I agree with you that the surgeon did not address that issue.
Sorry, *microtia.
Can you attach pictures of his ears before the operation? My son has very similar problem with earlobes but the situation is even worse because the antihelix was severely deformed by the operation. I am completely desperate.
