Duodenal Switch (DS) versus SADI? 3 weeks out.

WORTH IT$12,000
I had a vertical gastric sleeve done in 2012 and I was/am very happy. That said, my BMI I still 38/40. I also have sleep apnea so I’m going to get a DS. I am also a carbohydrate junkie so the DS seems better. I wanted to know if others have made this decision? I’ll keep all informed.

Surgery is complete. One day out.

I tolerated the surgery well. The second night was uncomfortable due to the CO2 needed to be dispelled but besides that and general soreness no problems.
Here are some pictures.

Both 1st and 2nd leak tests successful
BladerunnerJamesNovember 18, 2018
They did a leak test one day post surgery to ensure all connections and incisions were solid. This was was blue dyed apple juice looking for the dye in the drainage bag. All good yesterday. Today they did an upper GI with Barium to look for any leakage and it came out with no contra-indications.
I’m on to chicken broth and they will remove the drainage bag as well. I should plan on discharging tomorrow.
Total stay was the 14th for hours of tests. Surgery on the 15th. Three days (16th-18th) post-op then discharge on the morning of the 19th of November.
