One whole year!
Well friends, it's been a whole year since my surgery! Time flies! There was a bit of a residual bump that was hidden under swelling. Yesterday I went in to get that shaved down. It was super easy Dr. Bapna did it right in the office. All he did was numb up my nose, make a small incision, separate the skin from the bone through the inside, and shave down the bone. I couldn't feel it at all! Afterwards I felt a little sore and I had a headache. I went home and took some Tylenol and felt great by the end of the night! I got restylane in my lips at the same time and honestly that has been the worst part! Restylane is a love/hate for me. I always swell up super bad so don't judge my duck lips! I don't even notice my nose. I have to tape it for 1 week and it's a little swollen but I think it's going to be perfect when it's done!!!
3 month follow up
Hey guys! Went for my 3 month check up today. Where has the time gone? Dr. Bapna said that my nose is looking really good! It was a little dry so he recommended some saline gel. I've had a bad cold over the past week plus the lovely Ohio weather plus the dry hospital air have me super dry! The cool thing is even though I had a cold last week, I could easily breathe through my new nose! It was amazing! You may notice in my photos that I still have a slight bump. The more the swelling has gone down, the more noticeable it has become. Dr. Bapna thinks this might also be related to swelling and might still go away. If it is not totally gone in a year, he can easily fix it in his office with a very simple procedure. You can see in the photos how much the swelling has gone down. I'm so happy with my new nose!
Financial Obligations (so far)
The one thing I was unsure of going into my surgery was exactly how much it was going to cost. I searched everywhere for answers to no avail. Because my problems were primarily medical, my insurance was billed. I was responsible for half the surgeon fee and half the anesthesia and surgery center fee upfront. This was $1881 total. I put this on my care credit card that I was able to get. I have received two EOBs (explanation of benefits) so far from my insurance company. This first one was for anesthesia. The billed amount was $900 my responsibility is $81. The next one was for surgery. There are 4 surgical codes totaling $4800. My responsibility is $188. Added all together, I have paid $2150 out of pocket (WAY less than expected). There may be more bills on the way but I'm guessing the major ones are behind me!
Provider Review
Dr. Bapna is so great! He is very nice and gives a sense of comfort and ease. He has a good eye. He was able to show me on my photos what exactly he was going to do. He is not pushy or creepy like some plastic surgeons. He is so approachable and always answers my questions. I'm still healing but so far, I think he did a wonderful job! Hardly any bruising and my scar is healing nicely too. I have already referred my mom and a good friend to Dr. Bapna. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone!
