Not being able to breathe through my nose for almost 23 years old was tough. I knew I needed to get my nose looked at. A doctor close by did my first closed nasal septoplasty. When I went for my 1 month follow up I knew something wasn't right because I still couldn't breathe and just accepted it. I put it off, got married and decided to go back and have the doctor take a look. He said my septum was deviated again and is likely to happen to some patients and would need revision of the septum. At this point I went and got a second opinion. My mom called me one day and had a patient of hers say that he had awful sinus problems, etc. He went to ohio sinus institue to Dr Karanfilov for sinus surgery and has never felt better. He previously had multiple surgeries before then. The patient highly recommended we go to this doctor. I did not realize at the time that there were two doctors. When I called to make an appointment, the lady said Dr. Bapna specializes in what I needed attention to(the septum). My first visit was awesome, he showed me my nasal airways with a camera scope so I could see and explained open nasal septoplasty with grafting. He answered all of my questions and explained what my nose would being going through during surgery. I immediately build up trust in Dr. Bapna and knew he would take care of the problem.
After surgery I knew it was going to be tough that first week like Dr. Bapna had said, but I pulled through and my nose was healing very quickly and showing awesome results. Dr. Bapna even checked on me the next day after surgery and took out my packing. At my one week follow up things were looking very well and my stitches and stents were removed.
Today I had my one month follow up and Dr. Bapna said I am healing very well, still have more healing to do but it takes time with the procedure that was done. He fully answered all of my questions and was very helpful. At one month I can honestly say it feels great, still sore and swollen but I am improving so well and I am glad I did the surgery because it is worth being able to breathe. Big thanks to Dr. Bapna. God has truly blessed him with a wonderful talent. I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with nasal issues. Most people could not even tell anything was done and you can barley see any scarring. It's worth being able to breath.

Again I cannot thank Dr. Bapna enough for all he has done! It's almost four months after my surgery and my nose looks awesome. I almost have all sensation back where my incision was and you can not even tell I have a scar. You would have to get a magnifying glass in order to see. It looks great and the swelling is pretty much almost gone! This man does wonders! Thank you so much Dr. Bapna! I will see you in a year for my last follow up!
Hooray for breathing well! Thanks so much for sharing your experience on RealSelf. :)
