Male Rhinoplasty, Mid-30s Male - Wish I Did It Sooner!

I have wanted Rhinoplasty for as long as I could remember (maybe since early teens) but put it off continuously for years due to work commitments, financial issues and a fear of something going wrong or not getting the right results. My nose was very long, protruding and very pointy particularly from the profile angle. I also had a bump at the top and wanted straightened out. The width also was a bit too wide. I met with 3 surgeons in London and 1 in Paris and finally met Dr Ashok Govilla in Dubai. Dr Ashok clearly is the best surgeon in Dubai from his extensive positive reviews and professional background. I immediately built a rapport and trust with him that none of the other surgeons came close to. He responds to all emails promptly and his communication was superb. We met several times prior to surgery to ensure the 'design' was right. Originally I wanted to reduce the overall size and bring the length in as well as slight width reduction and also to soften the bridge.

My original design was quite 'drastic' but Dr Ashok and I later agreed that I should ensure a better balance and keep the 'bridge' area while focusing on reducing the length and a small correction in width. The day of the operation came and I was checked into a superb hospital which was world class (Dr Ashok works with several hospitals in Dubai and Abu Dhabi). I don't remember a thing obviously due to the general anaesthetic. I awoke feeling a bit drowsy but there was surprisingly no pain at all (either because the painkillers work or as my type of rhinoplasty generally doesn't invoke so much pain, i'll never know!). I met Dr Ashok a week later for cleaning and inspection and 2 weeks later to take off the bandages. I was very happy with the result: the length has been reduced, the bump was gone and completely straight from the profile, the width was reduced so there was less ‘flaring’ and the overall look is better in line with the rest of my face. It still had a 'masculine' look while overall the change being quite subtle.

There was some minor bruising as expected for the first 2-3 weeks but I could already see a great improvement in the aesthetic of my nose. Now 6 weeks on i'm very happy and expecting continuing improvement in the next 6-12 months. I would highly recommend Dr Ashok for being extremely professional, an excellent communicator and very honest - at several occasions pre-op I had the opportunity to cancel if I wanted but i'm so glad It went ahead. My top tips and insights from doing Rhinoplasty:

1) I wish I did this when I was younger, but due to procrastination and fear I put it off. In the end it's not such a big deal and after a couple of weeks I was back to normal life, but much more confident overall, I feel great!
2) The operation was done so well that none of my friends noticed or said anything! This is normal for surgery that is done well! However if I show close friends / family the before and after pics they are amazed at the result!
3) Meeting with lot's of surgeons made me realise they all have different views on how to 'design' your nose and the level of 'extremeness' that is worth going for (balance of getting your design right vs what’s safe and will suit your face). Dr Ashok was superb in understanding this and getting everything right to keep a 'masculine' look while ensuring my needs were met.
