Hi All, I am 27 - I had my breast implants in 5 months ago (July) and 2 weeks after the operation I started to get seroma. Following this I underwent antibiotics, went through different types of stages with the Seroma. At first it was leaking all the time, then it started to build, then leak once a week. Then just recently it has started leaking all the time like it was when I first started to get the Seroma. I went to different surgeons, got lots opinions. I have always been with my surgeon but I just wanted some other advice (who has been amazing) I got mixed feedback, some advised that I should remove the implant, let my body heal and then put back in once my body is ready - to me that was the worse thing. My Surgeon knew I didn't want that to happen, he tried everything to avoid that I must visit him twice a week now to get the seroma either drained of get some more tablets. I recently got an ultra sound done as the wound was starting to hurt (not surprised when its always being opened and closed from the seroma leaking, I have always been on antibiotics by the way) the ultrasound doc advised that there was no seroma but it was simply an abscess around the wound which would require cleaning the wound, removing any bad cells as it was now infected. He had advised there was no communication with the implant - advising that the implant dose not need to be removed. Following this, I had taken the doctors advice, my surgeon agreed to operating on me opening the cut, cleaning inside removing anything bad and then putting more antibiotics into me, then stitching me back up. About a week after the operation while the stitches are still in me, I started to get pain where the seroma used to leak from and the breast was very hard, swollen and sore. I knew that the seroma had come back, and was trying to make its way back out. My surgeon called me after I told him and he has said that the implant needs to come out. I am now due to have the implant taken out, the plan is to let my body heal then put an implant back in.
My question is - had anyone ever had a case like me before? And once the new implant is inside I am really worried that I will get Seroma again. Any stories you can share like these would be great, would be good to hear something as I feel like I am the only person who has had this issue. They also think it might be something to do with my immune system, not being able to fight off the seroma naturally. Also to note - I am very happy with my boob that has not been infected, it is exactly what I wanted, natural and I have had no issues with the recover of this breast.
