WORTH IT
I arrived at Dr. Fryer's office after I lost about 3/4 of my nose to skin cancer. He reconstructed my nose and made it possible to look normal again. He did such a good job that most people I meet now have no idea that I've had the surgeries on my nose. Dr. Fryer was meticulous in making sure my nose and face looked normal. I owe Dr. Fryer a debt of gratitude for his hard work on my nose.
Thank you for sharing your story here on RealSelf. I'm so sorry to hear about your skin cancer and how it impacted your nose, that must of been very traumatic for you. I imagine this was a complex process , can you update your review and take us through the steps of your procedures, where was your skin graft taken from? Did you have to have any bone or cartilage rebuilt? How many surgeries did you have and how far apart were they? If you're comfortable sharing some before and after photos with the community, I know they would find them very helpful.
Luckily the cancer went to the cartilage but not through it so I did not have to have any cartilage or bone rebuilt. After the graph was well established I was able to have Clarity Skin do the laser hair removal on my nose. Because my forehead is short the skin on the lower half of my nose came from my scalp and grew hair like on my head. They were very professional, I'm not sure they do hair removal from noses very often.
Next I was able to return to Dr Fryer to have some of the graph thinned out so it lays on my nose smoother. Then I had a derm abrasion to reduce the scars. The last thing I did was have Dr. Fryer create an alar groove so that it matched the other side of my nose. It took about seven months to have all the surgeries completed.
I got to know Dr. Fryer and how genuinely concerned he was for my health and well being. He was conscientious of my feelings because it was as obvious as the nose on my face that I was having these procedures done. I couldn't control how people looked at me or their reaction but Dr. Fryer was always very positive of the end result would be great. I'm a pretty private person and am not really comfortable putting pictures up a this time. But if I can answer any other questions please feel free to ask.
