I am so depressed about my results. I was attracted to Dr. Nuveen's price. I was to get Double Asian eyelid surgery. I thought he was good, but I was wrong. I now believe he has no exerience in Asian double eyelid and I am living proof. Please do research before choosing him. His prices maybe attractive, but his experience seems off.

I feel for you, did the doctor removed fat from your eyes? Just wait for another month to see if swelling goes down more.

Hi, thanks for commenting. Honestly, he did not discuss any of that with me, I just recall him asking me what my goals were and I told him I wanted creases, obvious results, but I expected it natural. I thought he would talk to me about the rcommended height creases for Asian individuals, but he place a paper clip on my eyelid - showed me a mirror and when I asked him if that was how high the crease was - his answer was short and vague. He then grabbed a purple pend and drew the surgical markings on my eyelid. He then had his intern draw my right eye. That's why both are uneven. I felt uneasy, but I trusted his expertise. All I remember after the surgery was being in my mom's car on our way back home - it's 5 hour drive. 5 weeks today and my eyes are just looking deformed. I am hoping that it's just swelling and scars causing the uneveness.

I am in the same situation as you beacuse i trusted a reputable surgeon but he doesn'n know much about creating asian double eyelids. My eyes are uneven, one with crease and one without. My eyes dont close properly, it means too much skin was removed. I'm at the one month mark like you, let's wait for another month to see how things goes and hope for the best. That's all we can do at this stage.

Yes, same here my left crease is higher and doesn't shut all the way. I have dry eyes too, so sleeping makes it worse. But I pray for both of us that it's just a phase and all will heal properly. If not, I still have hope that it can be fixed. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks for the support!

Thank you for you support too! We'll keep each other posted. I heard dr chase lay is very good with asian eyelid surgery, how far are you from his clinnic? He is in San Jose.
April 4, 2016
Hi Tjtran, I am located in the central states so I am very far away - there are not a lot of surgeons in my area that specializes in Asian eyes - I am considering consulting with Dr. Lay after my 3 month mark up to see what can be done for my eyes. I will keep you posted! :)

Hi Elle I am very far away too, because i am in Australia. There are good surgeons but they dont specialized in asian eyes. Good to hear you considering seeing dr lay in 3 months time. This will give you hope and will make you feel less depressed about the whole situation. I am also emailing dr Lay for advise but he has not responded yet. Will keep each other posted.
April 5, 2016
Don't email. DM him in Instagram. He's very responsive there. He's great. You'll love him
April 5, 2016
Thank you for your response. Can you please show me how to do this?? Do I need an instagram app? Sorry I'm not familiar with this stuff in Australia. Please show me how to do this, many many thanks.
April 6, 2016
Yes you'll need to download the Instagram app. Sign up for an account and "search" for Chase Lay.

Yesterday i downloaded the app and you are right dr lay is a very nice surgeon. Can i please ask you if dr Lay has done alot of eyelid revision surgeries?? Because mine would be difficult as i dont have any extra skin left. When i close my eyes there is a gap of 1.5 mm.
April 7, 2016
Take some photos and send it to him. He will tell u what he thinks. What's your name on IG? I can find you and talk to you there.

Give it another month or two. If it's still bad contact Dr Chase Lay in San Jose. Look at my photos. Idk if he can help you but he will text you the truth. This doc did took too much fat and skin out.

Hi Sat2015,

Thank you for your post - yes, I agree - my left eye feels very tight and still 5 weeks I am unable to close it all the way - my right eyes - the crease is uneven and the fold is not even there - it's been really depressing looking at myself - I miss my old eyes and truly regret having this surgeon perform double asian eyelid on me. I wish I did my research. I heard great things on realself about Dr. Lay - I may consider consulting with him after 3 month mark up. You're results are beautiful by the way!
April 4, 2016
Thanks. Dr Lay is the best. He followed up with me all the time. Anytime I have a question he would always take his time to answer me. He's very skilled especially Asian eyelid surgery. He fix many patients as well. But he will tell like it is. im so sorry you have to go through what you're going through right now. Hang in there. My advice is not to go back to that same surgeon. If you're unhappy with the first result, you're likely not to like it the second times.

Hi Elle13ad4u, So sorry to hear about your experience. I had a double eyelid surgery done in Los ANgeles by a Korean doctor, and still had a very uneven result, but I think your doctor was even more inexperienced than mine was. I think re-surgery would be the best option as I ended up doing. It's a lot of trouble to go through, but it will be worth it. Choosing a re-surgery doctor is even more tricky since it's a more complex operation than a simple double eye lid surgery, so no matter who you go to, make sure they have a lot of before and after examples of the re-surgery and make sure to comparison shop. You can get it fixed, so don't lose hope. Good luck!

Hi LosAngelesBeauty, thank you for your support. It's been difficult for me to even look at myself - when I apply make-up it doesn't even look right. My surgeon was so inexperienced that I myself believe I was his first Asian patient. I am so scarred by this experience that sometimes thinking about revision scares me because I am afraid the next surgeon will messed up again. But, I am praying and hoping that maybe after a few months it will heal enough to where I feel a bit better about my image and also enough to get a second opinion on revision. Do you know if revision is cheaper? I live in the mid-central and there aren't really any experienced surgeons here who perform much on asian double eyelid. I am thinking about traveling to the West Coast for revision if I can find an experience surgeon.
April 6, 2016
Revision surgery will be more expensive since it is a more complex surgery. I would recommend you to either come to the West Coast (Los Angeles) or if possible, Korea, where there are more options of experienced doctors. Make sure to take your time researching the doctors and don't be afraid to ask for before/ after pictures. As long as you have the right doctor, it can get fixed, but choosing the right doctor is the most important part!!

Hi Elle. I am so very sorry about your results. I too had a very bad experience with surgery done by Dr. Randy Wong. It has been 3 years and I think I am finally ready to have my eyes which are crooked and wrinkled with too much fat removal, fixed. I am definitely considering Dr. Lay.

Hi Yoga2016 - Thank you for the support. I am sorry to hear about your experience - please do keep me updated on your revision as I hope to find a doctor who will be able to help me too.

I year update

elle13ad4u
Hi Everyone, so my one year mark has come. Here are the results. I still have scars and the lids are uneven/unnatural. There's folds and creases. I may seek another treatment to fix my eyes next year. Again, I would not recommend Dr. Nuveen. He's inexperienced in Asian eyelid surgery.

Thanks for the update. I also had a very bad eyelid surgery about 8 months ago. One eye is a failed crease, i have to get revision.. Are you planning on seeking revision? I'm really scared of choosing the wrong doctor again. Will consult with a few doctors after my 1 year mark
July 6, 2017
Hi, so sorry to hear of your experience. Yes, I am definitely going to seek revision, but will take my time, thinking about waiting another year or so. I wish you good luck and hope you find a good doctor to help you!
July 5, 2017
You should find someone that specializes in Asian eyelid revisions. Tons of good docs in LA and South Korea that can correct.
July 6, 2017
Thank you for the suggestion. I am going to wait another year and then will seek revision.

Hi BacktoBlack, can you please recommend any gooddocs in LA that can do well in revision for Asian eyelid that can take health medical insurance?

I think your eyes now look better!
July 6, 2017
Thank you, I wish I could feel the same. But, the results were not what I want nor was consulted on. I now have visible scarring more noticeable in person and my results look unnatural.

I am sorry to hear that. In the photo your eyes look natural and I would have never guessed you had eyelids surgery. I plan to have my eyelids done. I'm older than you and not Asian. I hope you find a surgeon who can help you. I have been to many consults and been postponing it because I'm scared.
