Natural Looking Double Eyelids, Long Healing Time
I'm about 2 months ago post-op my full-incisional double eyelid surgery and epicanthoplasty, and I'm pretty happy with the results. The Dr. recommended a 6mm incision and I asked her to excise as much skin as possible for my epicanthoplasty and make the inner corners pointed, rather than rounded. My double eyelid crease and inner corner excision has really opened up my eyes!
The procedure itself was not too painful, the most unpleasant part was local anesthesia injection, suture stitching and removal. My eyelids were extremely swollen post-surgery to the point where I looked like the corpse bride and could barely open my eyes for the first few days post-op, but the swelling and bruising did subside, although slowly.
The Dr., Ella, and Kory were all very sweet and attentive, taking time to answer my questions, although the in-person consultation felt a bit rushed. Ella also allowed me to get some extra red light therapy sessions in to speed up wound healing :)
My eyelids are currently healing at different rates, and the right eyelid incision is still raised and slightly red. The area of skin that connects my inner corner stitch and my full incisional stitches is surprising thick, red and raised on both eyelids, which has slightly changed the shape of my eyes. I do believe this is just temporary swelling, and will subside with time and scar gel use. My epicanthoplasty scars, surprisingly, are not very visible, which I'm pleased with.
Overall, I have high hopes that as swelling subsides and I continue to heal, my eyes will continue to look more natural with time. The only thing I would note is that swelling for double eyelid surgery with this Dr. seems to last longer, based on the healing timeline I've seen for other double eyelids online. However, she gives patients really pretty and natural-looking results, so a slightly longer recovery is worthwhile.
