My Post-surgery Review of an Asian Double-eyelid REVISION Surgery

I have put some details in the review hope that it can help you to avoid surgeons like the one who did my first eyelid surgery.

Unlike a lot of the other patients who said that they knew Dr. Ho is the surgeon that they are after, I was sceptical and paranoid after my first appointment with Dr. Ho. Eventually, it’s not what he did but what he didn’t do convinced me.

Unlike other cosmetic/plastic surgeons that I talked to, Dr. Ho did not give me an ambiguous answer about what he could change about my disfigured upper eyelids. He was very detailed and honest about what he could and couldn’t do.

Unlike other cosmetic/plastic surgeons that I met, Dr. Ho did not try to talk me into doing other surgeries.

Unlike other cosmetic/plastic surgeons that I have came across, Dr. Ho did not show any eagerness for the potential business but rather whether the surgery could bring me the change that I want.

Before I decided to do the revision surgery with Dr. Ho, I saw many reviews saying that he is very professional. I had trouble understanding what it means back then. After doing the surgery with Dr. Ho, I realized that all the reviews are saying that he is sincere, honest, very competent and he put his patients’ interest in front of his.

My first surgery was done by a cosmetic surgeon named Peter Kim based in Chatswood, Sydney. Before I had my revision surgery with Dr. Ho, I thought all double-eyelid surgeries would be pretty much the same. I couldn’t be MORE WRONG!! I have put details about both surgeries below, so you guys can compare.

1. My 1st eyelid surgery was done by local anaesthesia. I sensed sharp pain in my eyelid when I woke up during the surgery (as planned). I complained about the pain but was told that there are areas that cannot be reached by anaesthetics. A few seconds later, my moans became screams. I was then given more anaesthetic.

My Revision surgery with Dr. Ho was done by general anaesthesia. I laughed in distrust when Dr. Ho told me that the whole surgery would feel like a day spa for me. Now I can tell you, he’s right!! I was very relaxed the whole time and have experienced no problem with the general anaesthesia what’s so ever.

2. My eyelids were dark blue for a couple of weeks after my 1st eyelid surgery due to bruising.

My eyelids were only a bit yellowish for a couple of days due to bruising after the Revision surgery. It speaks volume about how exquisite Dr. Ho’s techniques are.

3. I can only describe my suture-removing experience for my 1st eyelid surgery as horrific. It was extremely painful. Seven days after the 1st surgery, only a small portion of the sutures could be removed. As the cuts on the eyelid heal, some short un-removed sutures wrapped by flesh in my eyelids. The cosmetic surgeon used scissors and needle removed most of them from my eyelids with no anaesthesia at all.

The sutures done by Dr. Ho is very different from what I had before. It’s very neat and easy to remove. I can see that it minimized scarring on my eyelids. I barely felt anything when the nurse removed the sutures.

4. According to the photos that I took during recovery for both surgeries, I recovered four times faster after the revision surgery compares to my 1st eyelid surgery. I would assume the reasons are my eyelids were not bruised as much in the revision surgery as they were in the 1st surgery and the neat sutures done in the revision surgery helped a lot as well.

5. As many Asians out there, I used to believe that cosmetic/plastic surgeons who practiced in Korea can deliver better results for Asian double eyelid surgery because of K-pop culture. That was the main reason why I choose the cosmetic surgeon who did my 1st eyelid surgery. But just like many Asians who did surgeries by these surgeons, I was failed miserably. I had four prominent folds on the right eyelid and two prominent folds on the other. Don’t even mention sunken and swollen eyelids that made my eyes looked protruding.

It is almost impossible to undo all the damages, but Dr. Ho put so much effort in the revision surgery, he did not just undo the damage, but also enhanced features of my eyes, for which I couldn’t thank him more.
