Non-Surgical Double Eyelid/Maibotsu Eyelid Procedure

I already had very subtle double eyelids, but not enough to be confident. For years, I had been doing everything I could to make my eyes look bigger (Fake lashes, eyelid tape, etc.) or else I didn’t feel “beautiful.” I’d been wanting this procedure for a while but being an RN I can’t take that much time off of work, so this procedure was perfect since I only took a week off.

The procedure was painless, and I didn’t experience any pain really after except when I’d look up. I didn’t have to take any pain meds at all. Surprisingly, I also didn’t have any bruising which worried me because it seemed like everyone else had it. Even now, 6 days later, the swelling has gone down slightly. We’ll see if in a month my eyelids settle more!

I like how they look, but when I smile there are creases above the inner corners of my eyes which worries me because I smile a lot. Hopefully this will go away when my eyelids start to really settle.

Scabbing on eyelids is dark but only noticeable when I completely close my eyes. One of my eyes is a little more swollen than the other but hopefully it’ll subside in the next few weeks.

I’m surprised I never had bruising at all after the procedure. I wonder if it’s attributed to not taking any aspirin/NSAIDs for 2 weeks and not drinking alcohol for 1 week prior. And of course everyone has different experiences with wound healing.

Interestingly the medical assistant gave me 400 mg of ibuprofen to take right before they took me into the OR. As an OR nurse I didn’t trust taking ibuprofen before the procedure and I did not take it. Luckily, I didn’t need to take any pain meds at all after. They just have me a bottle of antibiotic eye drops to take 3x a day for one week.
