My DST Eyelid Surgery Journey at Me Clinic, Kuala Lumpur

Title: My DST Eyelid Surgery Journey at Me Clinic, Kuala Lumpur

Introduction:
For years, I had dreamed of having double eyelids. After researching clinics in Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam, I finally decided to undergo the procedure at Me Clinic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the story of my DST eyelid surgery experience, from the consultation to the recovery.

The Consultation:
Me Clinic, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur at Berjaya Times Square, was my chosen destination. The journey began with excellent communication from their team, even before my arrival. I had an e-consultation with Dr. David, the surgeon who would perform my surgery. During this consultation, he asked about my desired eyelid shape – parallel or tapered. I opted for the tapered look. Dr. David then used an instrument to simulate the eyelid placement I desired.

Preparation:
Upon arriving at the clinic, I was greeted by Dr. David and his assistant. They discussed my preferences once more before proceeding. However, I couldn't help but feel unsettled that I couldn't see the markings before the procedure began. I believe that clients should have a final look with the markings made and approval with the instrument before the stitching.

This is a crucial part of the process, as it ensures that the client is completely satisfied with the planned outcome and allows for any adjustments if necessary.

In my case, Dr. David, the surgeon, used an instrument to determine the placement of my eyelid crease in the consultant, but I wasn't able to see where the markings were when I was in the chair to do my procedure. This lack of visibility was unsettling, as it meant I had to trust that Dr. David had accurately remembered my preferences from our earlier discussions.

During the initial consultation at Me Clinic, when I inquired about whether I would have the opportunity to see the markings for my DST eyelid surgery, the assistant informed me that I wouldn’t be able to do so. The reason provided was that Dr. David, the surgeon, relied on his memory to accurately place the markings. Trusting that the surgeon had remembered all the specifics of my desired eyelid shape and placement without any visual confirmation felt like a leap of faith.

While Dr. David is undoubtedly experienced and skilled, the inability to visually confirm the markings created a sense of uncertainty and anxiety. It's similar to going to a nail salon, where the technician asks for your preferred nail length before making any cuts. Having a second look with the instrument before the actual stitching would have provided peace of mind and reassurance.

In hindsight, I believe that allowing clients to see and approve the markings before the surgery begins would enhance the overall experience and ensure that their desires are accurately translated into the final result. It's a small change that could make a significant difference in the level of comfort and satisfaction for patients undergoing DST eyelid surgery.

The Procedure:
The surgery room was well-prepared. The assistant took before photos, and I was positioned comfortably in the chair. My hair was covered, my eyelids cleansed, and numbing cream applied. After a 15-minute wait for the numbing cream to take effect, the procedure began.

The Painful Part:
Dr. David administered local anesthesia, which involved six injections in each eyelid – three above and three below. I won't sugarcoat it; this was the most painful part of the process. The assistant was a reassuring presence, holding my hand and using a vibration tool on my cheek to distract from the pain. It was bearable but intense.

The Surgery:
Once numb, Dr. David began stitching. I could feel slight tugging and movement but no pain or irritation. The surgery lasted about 30 minutes, and afterward, Dr. David left, leaving me with the nurse.

Post-Surgery Shock:
Upon looking in the mirror, I was surprised by the transformation. While I didn't have monolids initially, I had wanted a bigger eyelid crease. However, I also noticed that one eye was slightly bigger than the other, which worried me. The assistant assured me it was due to swelling.

Recovery:
Recovery involved pain medication, antibiotics, and a cream. I experienced some bruising starting on the 14th day but no significant discomfort. The stitches darkened and eventually started to peel off naturally.

Conclusion:
As of today, 12 days post-surgery, my swelling has subsided, and the scars are fading. While I still notice a slight difference between my eyes, it doesn't bother me much. In retrospect, I wish I could have approved the markings before the surgery. Nevertheless, my overall experience with Me Clinic was positive, from the warm welcome to the excellent follow-up care. I would recommend them to anyone considering DST eyelid surgery.
