Don’t Put Artefill or Bellafill in Your Tear Troughs!

Nice man and nice staff. However, artefill was injected in my tear troughs, which I later learned is not a recommended use for this product. Apparently, artefill or bellafill should never be placed in the tear troughs. Although it looked amazing for the first year, six years later I’m left with visible granulomas under my eyes. They are raised on my face at the base of each eye socket. I’ve had two plastic surgeons tell me there’s no way to correct this, which I consider a very noticeable disfigurement. For a while, I was able to have restylane lift injected around the granulomas, but now the granulomas are like rocks and the injector cannot get the needle in safely without risking my eyesight.

is a nightmare as over time it leaves the lumps and bumps you’re experiencing now. Furthermore to inject it into such a delicate area as tear troughs is shocking.
Did you go back to the dr who did this procedure for advice and to show him the granulomas? I do hope you find some way to get rid of this awful filler
No, I did not return to the scene of the crime. I sought opinions of qualified, board certified plastic surgeons, who were aware of artefill and its recommended uses. This was not one of them. I would now have to surgically remove the granulomas.
I am so sorry you are dealing with this and I am so sorry that I’ve done the same thing. I was talked into Bellafill 3 months ago and I hated it from day 1. I am so scared about what will happen to my face. I was told whatever I didn’t like could be dissolved and I’ve since learned that is not true. I have not been back to the injector as I’m scared she will make things worse. How I wish I could turn back time.
I had Artefill (now called Bellafil) throughout my face but concentrated on my cheeks. I now look like a chipmunk with huge cheeks and my facial profile changed extensively. It’s been 7 years and my cheeks are still huge. I urge everyone to not put any permanent fillers anywhere in your face. It will come back to haunt you. My doctor no longer uses the product. I wonder why?
And you still see the same doctor? Shame on me for not doing my research and not using a BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON. Those are the magic words. No matter how nice the doctor is, no matter how posh his office looks, no matter what your friends tell you about a doctor, if he’s not a plastic surgeon and not board certified, he’s not touching my face. Not even a board certified dermatologist should be messing with this under eye area. Shame on me and lesson learned. Would love to see this practice of other types of doctors injecting these things. I saw two different board certified plastic surgeons, who were both disturbed by my experience with artefill used under my eyes. They both said the same thing: artefill is not supposed to be used under the eyes, and never use permanent fillers on your face. I’m still kicking myself.
I was unable to edit my comment above, but meant to say “Would love to see this type of practice STOP. Other types of doctors should not inject fillers.”
